“Great bar concept - good variety of food selections”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2014

A group of eight of us gathered here one evening after a business forum to socialize and enjoy a meal together. The main interior of the restaurant is on huge long irregular-shaped oval bar with high stools and a lot of the preparations (drinks, some food) are inside of the bar area - making it easy for the wait staff to serve you. Yes, there are some tables on the side - but the main sitting area is this interesting bar. The place was bit loud - so you were limited to talking to people sitting one or at most two places left and right of your seat; which did not help for a group of eight. But the food selections were spot-on; I started with one of their 'Appetapas' called 'Hot & Cold Dips' which included a three-cheese spinach dip, flatbread crackers, and four cool toppers. This appetizer plate was huge and very delicious - enough for several people, so I shared it with two other guys! I topped this with a trio of fish tacos topped with a wonderful chipotle lime sauce - hmmm! So if you don't mind the noise, this is a great place for a casual dinner. Food is fresh and service is quick.

“Food and atmosphere are great, can get crowded”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 23, 2014

I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to Stone's Cove; they seat you around essentially a large island bar, with the cooks acting as the waiters and making your food in the center of the island. The menu is not large, but the dishes they make are quite good, as are their mixed drinks. Draft options are a bit limited, but they're not really a beer place. The prices are in the medium range. The only major downside is they get crowded quickly, so a reservation is definitely encouraged. They have a few actual tables in the back, but that definitely lessens the experience. Also, because everyone is sitting around a large island, it can also get noisy.

“Food was not good for such a high price!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2014

Not sure who is writing the great reviews I found but this did not come close to any expectations we had before arriving. We were sat immediately and did not have to wait which was good. Menu was not huge but enough to choose from. We both asked for the flank steak with grilled vegetables. The vegetables were excellent but the steak marinade was awful, as was the steak. It tasted as if microwaved not cooked on a grill. Temperature was correct. We ordered two domestic draft beers which turned out to be $7.50 each.. OUCH I would not recommend this restaurant or return here for the prices paid.

“Fun Concept..,but”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2014 via mobile

...not something I would probably do again, the scene was on a Friday night, it was busy, loud and energetic, I get that. Not really a high quality meal though, our chef tender was a nice and funny guy but not really locked on to our table. As we had to flag down a few others during our course of service. Again not a big deal, they do mention that all of the chef tenders are taking care of us... So I kinda get it. We sampled some things the lobster cones were meh at best the only saving thing was the generic tasting guacamole at the bottom. My filet sliders might have been the best of the bunch, the Buffalo wing flat bread was decent, but a little to much salted ingredients made everything taste like a Harris Teeter frozen entree or pizza. The shrimp and grits tasted very heavy and amateurish. My sparkling wine was served in a warm stemless wine glass that smelled like industrial glass cleaner straight from the bar dishwasher I have no complaints about the people working there just the quality of food and the execution. Salt should never hide a shortcoming, it is just an enhancer

“Interesting Concept; Not Good Delivery”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2014

The idea -- having a bar where the servers are also involved in the food preparation, and being able to see the food being prepared in part -- is intriguing. Indeed, the physical space in the restaurant is good looking. But the execution was very poor. We waited forever for someone to serve us, and for every stage of the meal. And the food itself was somewhat inventive, but once you get past the original concept of most of the food, you realize it's still pre-fab, and not terribly good quality.
