“Good for small teams”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2008

This extended stay facility seems good for small teams on extended travel. Clean. Close to Washington Dulles airport. Close to shops, grocery stores.

  • Liked — close to airport; large rooms
  • Disliked — TV remotes did not work - not a big problem - I mentioned to staff at checkout

We checked in on Thanksgiving night and only the manager was on duty. She was very courteous and efficient. We had changed our reservation at the last minute from non-smoking to smoking, and were given a larger suite at the same price because no other smoking rooms were available. (our fault, not theirs)
The amenities at this hotel are much more than you'd expect from this price range. It was nice to have the option of sleeping late on Saturday and Sunday and not missing the terrific, complimentary full breakfast which is served until 10:30 (9:30 on weekdays). Use of the computers for printing boarding passes, checking mapquest, etc. was also complimentary.
The suite was spacious and spotless, beds were comfortable, and there was a choice of about six pillows. Maid service on weekends is optional; and it was nice not to be disturbed.
The location is convenient to Dulles airport, Nordstrom, excellent restaurants, and good pubs. We'd definitely stay here again.

  • Liked — abundance of free amenities and convenience to airport
  • Disliked — no restaurant or bar on site

Me, my wife and 3 daughters stayed at this Suite Hotel for a week while I was working.

This is a family hotel without a doubt. Most hotels you have a bar and free cocktails... This Hotel is very dry. The only sign of alcohol is the draft beer they offer at the "Sundowner" on certain nights. Even then, it's not something right out in the open.

The Hot Breakfast was good, as was the food for the Sundowner. Typical free wireless internet.... it's there, just kinda weak.

We had a two bedroom suite. It had a full size fridge, stove and dish washer.

Another bonus was I could have the shuttle drive me to work when I needed to.

Booked through hotwire and got a very good deal. We were given a 1-bedroom king suite, which worked great for me and my 9 yr old son. We were in DC for a Smithsonian weekend. Check in was quick and easy but couldn't receive priority club points since I booked with hotwire. Oh well. Eric checked us in, told us about the place, breakfast, etc. He was pleasant and helpful. We found the suite to be clean and of adequate size. It has a full-size fridge, microwave, stove/oven - basically a full kitchen, which was stocked with essentials like dish soap, paper towels, coffee and filters & sugar/creamer, microwave popcorn. We noticed the sofa had a cut/tear in it, and the front room phone didn't seem to be working (the bedroom phone was fine). We reported these things to the front desk so as not to be charged for any of it. The bed was comfortable with nice bedding, the bathroom had nice, big spa towels. They only give bar soap and one little bottle of conditioning shampoo, so be sure to bring your own toiletries! The bathroom vanity is separate from the commode/tub-shower and is actually right in the bedroom, so that could be fairly inconvenient for someone trying to sleep while someone else is getting ready. We were in a ground-floor suite, and one morning the people above us must have had a very early flight. They were up at 3 am, showering, shaving, etc and we could hear it. We just flipped on the bathroom fan and that helped a lot to drown out the noise. Otherwise noise wasn't a problem.

The breakfast is 6:30 to 9:30 M-F and 7:30 to 10:30 Sat/Sun, and it was very good. There is a buffet with hot food such as eggs, bacon, biscuits, sausage, etc. There is also a good selection of cold foods - cereals, fruit, muffins, bagels, etc. There is a make-your-own-waffles station which my son really liked. There is a large selection of beverages including juices, milk, coffee, tea, sodas, water, etc.

There is a hotel shuttle which will take you anywhere within a 5-mile radius for free. Definitely use this if you plan to go to the Udvar-Hazy Air & Space museum as parking is $12.

We found all the hotel staff to be exceptionally good. They were helpful, pleasant and efficient. Eric and Rick were the two at the front desk each day/night we were there, and they were great. The support staff is all good, too.

The only negatives I can think of: the location is not terribly convenient. It's not close to the metro or to much else. You pretty much need to have a car to get around, which we did, so that was fine. Driving around DC is a PAIN, so I suggest parking at the West Falls Church metro and taking the train into the city. (staff will give directions).

We liked the Staybridge Suites and would definitely stay here again!

Aside from the first impressions of an exterior renovation (not good, but the place is 10 years old) everyone was happy with the interior of the two-bedroom suite that we got at a great weekend rate ($105 + tax). The location is less than five minutes from the parkway to Dulles down a not busy side road – if you really want solitude, ask for one of the rooms that faces out back to several acres of forest. All rooms do have exterior entrances, and ask for a first floor room if you have lots of luggage; hauling to the street-side rooms will be shorter. Staff was great at check-in and check-out.

You have the usual Staybridge breakfast options, including a couple of hot items, and the make-it-yourself waffles, and the pool (closed in early April) is directly across from the checkin/breakfast guesthouse.

For dinner, you can travel back to the expressway intersection to the Worldgate Center (look for the Marriot Suites on the corner) where you have not only every imaginable restaurant choice but a nine-plex movie theatre as well. The Charlie Chiang's buffet plus Mongolian grill was really good. Parking is available underground if you can’t get a spot out front. Several fast food places plus a Chuckie Cheese’s are also nearby. All in all, great options for family accommodations within a 30-minute (with no traffic) drive to DC.

  • Liked — great rate for two-bedroom suite including breakfast
  • Disliked — exterior renovation first impressions, nothing else within walking distance.

We used their Park and Fly option and left our car here while we went on our 2 week trip. The parking was included in the reasonable room rate. When we returned from our trip we were given a wonderful suite with clean and well decorated rooms. Includes full kitchen, living, dining, bedroom and bath. The reception area is in need of a redo and the front door of the hotel could use cleaning and painting but overall this was a great place. Even the breakfast was well done.

Generally pleasant place to stay near the airport with friendly staff. The buildings are 2-stories; if you get a lower floor room you’ll hear every step of the person above, as well as cars arriving at night in front of your window. Suites have a big walk-in closet with shelves, 2 TVs, 4 towel sets, plates/bowls/cups for 4, pots/pans and 12-cup coffee maker. There’s a wired internet access port but you need to get a free LAN cable from the front desk. They log the cable to your room so return it to the front desk when you check out. Next to the lobby is a computer room with 2 PCs and a printer which is all at no charge (I used it to print boarding passes).

There’s a full breakfast although the scrambled eggs have that institutional consistency. About 1/2 mile away is a shopping mall with a variety of inexpensive ethnic restaurants. We ate at a Japanese restaurant that was good.
