“Nice stop for overnight layover”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2010

This is a new hotel, and very nice. I called for the Shuttle bus from the airport, it got there in about 20 min. The ride was quick and the driver was nice. Check in was easy. Room is big with a very large TV with HD stations. Really good place to chill for the night. Staff was nice, and helpful. The breakfast included is cold items but you can order hot items for a fee. The rates are very good for what you get. At times they share shuttle service and pool hours with the Sheraton next door. This is my new place to stay at IAD. The road the hotel is on is also new.. If you put Hyatt Dulles in your GPS you will get there.. the new road is across the way from the entrance to the Hyatt Dulles.. you will see the Sheraton on the corner, the Hyatt place shares a parking lot.

Forget obtaining decent directions to this place. Even they do not know exactly where they are. Once you do accidently stumble upon it things do not improve. Terrible staff, mediocre decor, Incompetence abounds! Incorrect billing, overcharged by a mere 120.US, for a dinner they do not serve..no apologies for being unable to find the shuttle driver, thus making everyone scramble for their fllights....Not a bat of the eye when hearing a complaint, of which their were many from a varied, frustrated group. AND they charge for internet. For shame!

Stayed here for just one night, in transit through the Dulles airport.
Shuttle service takes you to/from the airport and Herndon city center. The hotel is in a isolated area, very close to the airport so the shuttle is essential.
The rooms are very big, comfortable, with very good quality and free wireless internet and a big HD television. The bed is awesome.
I also had no problems to extend my check out until 6 PM; the staff is very helpful and polite.

Posh 5 star service. Great spacious room with good view.
Reasonable cost. Frequent shuttle to airport.

Definite will visit if I get a chance in future and will recommend to friends.

Only issue is its distance from DC.

Clean hotel, polite staff. Location is very suburban but there is a local shuttle available in the evenings.

This Hyatt Place is a relatively brand new hotel, built in what used to probably be a very pleasant looking forest, situated just outside Dulles Airport. There's still pieces of the forest still around, but the newly developed area has become mostly cosmopolitan office buildings and condos.

Completely modern, if this is Hyatt's typical "value priced" counterpart to any standard Marriott Courtyard, Hilton's Hampton Inn or Sheraton Four Points, I'd surely choose this place over them.

Checking in was a breeze. Just step in the front door and slide your credit card (any credit card with your name on it, doesn't have to be the one you reserved with) into the Express Check In kiosk. You can choose low, medium or high floors (there are six floors in this building).

The room I chose on a middle floor was very spacious, with a desk area to put your laptop computer (free WiFi is very nice… THANKS! I didn't check to see if the Ethernet cable port next to the desk was working or not). There's a room fridge but no microwave in my particular room. The big screen flat panel HD TV swivels to face the massive wall hugging couch or the bed, which was something I've never seen in a hotel. There's a console with all sorts of different inputs so you can plug in a VGA cable from your computer or HDMI or whatever you need to play a NetFlix or iTunes movie direct from your computer to the TV.

Breakfast in the morning was another slightly odd mix I've never encountered before (as far as I can remember): there's a "continental" part of breakfast (sliced melons, yogurt, cereal, toast or bagels, juice or milk) that is a complimentary buffet, but if you want something more substantial (e.g. a custom made omelet), you can slide your room key through yet another kiosk ordering station. The front desk doubles as a Starbuck's style outlet, and they have wrapped salads & sandwiches available in a cooler available all day. There are two computers and a printer in a corner of the lobby that guests can use (I wasn't sure if these were "free" or if one had to pay to use them...).

A couple weird things I noticed here:

Good gracious this hotel was crazy **DIFFICULT** to find at first. Entering in the address of "13711 Sayward Blvd" into Google Maps reveals Hyatt Places answering to the same address in two dramatically different locations relative to the airport. The correct location for Google maps is the Hyatt Place very close to the tollway. The directions printable from the Hyatt Place's website aren't much help either. My suggestion: take the tollway to exit 10, pay the stupid 50 cent toll, get off at exit 10 and make a right at the light. The second set of lights you'll come to should be Sunrise Valley. Make a right. Follow this for about 1 1/2 miles (it's parallel to the tollway, heading back towards the airport) and look for a Sheraton on the corner. Hyatt Place is right next door. In retrospect, I wish I had seen the last reviewer's suggestion of printing out the directions to the next door Sheraton.

The attached indoor pool has **very** limited hours. The sign on the locked door says that guests can use the next door Sheraton's pool (which might not be such a fun or fine idea in the wintertime). I'm guessing both this Hyatt Place and the next door Sheraton are ultimately owned by the same people.

Summed up, I thought the room rate of $175 (all-in, including the taxes) was a bit high, but if you can score the rate at $140 or less, this Hyatt Place is a really excellent airport hotel (less than 2 - 3 miles from the airport), without the airport views (or noise).

We were very pleased with the cleanliness, amenities and helpfulness of the hotel staff. Rooms were laid out nicely and the "corner sofa" was comfortable and user friendly. Lighting excellent for reading. While the hotel is a bit hard to find (the staff said they were working on that), I'd suggest that you stay on HunterMill Road (4 lane road taking you through the complex which is basically composed of offices, apartments and hotels) past where it narrows to two lanes. Shortly after the road resumes 4 lanes, there is an intersection with a Sheraton on the left. Turn left past the Sheraton and the Hyatt Place is next to it. (may not be the directions on the website, but found to be the most direct) One suggestion is that there should be more newspapers. I went to the desk at just after 7:00 AM and got the last one. Would certainly return.
