Description: Located in an elegantly restored Victorian mansion, Joshua Wilton House is within walking distance of historic downtown Harrisonburg and the campus of James Madison University, offering guests quiet charm and gracious living in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. The Restaurant offers a unique and exquisite a la carte menu that changes with the seasons, along with an extensive selection of beers and an award-winning wine list. Featured are the food products of many small local farms and producers who supply our kitchen with high quality ingredients that simply cannot be found elsewhere. Chef's Tom French and Brian Bogan work together to create food that highlights Virginia's southern heritage while adding a French influence to the dish. During the warmer months, seating is available on the outdoor brick patio. Arrive early and enjoy a cocktail in our lounge before dinner.

“Best in Harrisonburg and many other areas”
Reviewed June 2, 2009

Great food, service, and desserts in a lovely restored victorian home. Only drawback is the college town, but the food is very, very good--particularly for this area! I had the tuna tartare--very tasty. You'd pay twice as much for the entrees in a larger city. I hope they keep their prices fairly low and maintain the high quality food and service. They are sure to be around for a very long time. This place is a must if you visit Harrisonburg.

“Just spectacular”
Reviewed December 27, 2008

By far the best food in the Shenandoah Valley. Despite sampling food at high-end restaurants all over the country, we find ourselves only having to go a few miles to taste some of the best. The Inn itself is wondeful and historic, with fireplaces in all the rooms. The service is efficient and discrete, and the food is outstanding. Many of the menu items are made from all local ingedents, for the freshest meats. fruits and vegetables. Servng sizes are ample and the menu changes often with a nice selection of daily specials. The chef is inventive and the tastes varied, without focusing too much on any one cuisine type. The wine selection is very nice, and the small but cosy bar is perfect for having a drink before or after the meal. If you are treavelling in the Valley, you will not be disappointed, unless you ae trying to eat on a budget.

“Gracious dining, great people”
Reviewed December 22, 2007

I travel though Virginia on business on a regular basis stopping in Harrisonburg once or twice a month. Joshua Wilton House is a favorite stop for an extraordinary meal in a wonderful environment. The food is fantastic and just different enough each time to be an adventure. Lots of interesting choices with fresh local ingredients. They have a great wine list. Unusual selections at a reasonable price. You are never rushed through you meal allowing you to explore the menu at a casual pace. It's extra special when you can sit outside in the garden when the weather is nice. It's also nice to sit in the bar or on the front porch before your meal to have a cocktail. Avoid the goldfish, you don't want to fill up before the main event.

“Wonderful Food and Classy Atmosphere”
Reviewed December 3, 2007

My husband and I have eaten twice at this restaurant when we have been vacationing for our anniversary in the mountains of Virginia. (We are from Georgia) This restaurant is a treat. The meal is not the most expensive we've ever paid for but it surely passed the more expensive in quality of food (best ever), ambiance and service. A very classy place and well worth your time and money. Not a place for children-go for a sophisticated evening of true dining!
