The interior of this historic home has been renovated and is the place to see a video of the impact of the Civil War in this area, and get oodles of info re regional Civil War sites. The vis ctr greeter lady was an enthusiastic font of knowledge of all events happening in Harrisonburg. the New Leaf bakery provides delicious repast before you head off to explore the downtown area - most spots date from late 1800s/early 1900s - except for the Thomas Harrison house. He was founder and namesake of the town, and his rock house was built ca 1740. Did not appear to be open for tours, so that was a disappointment.
