“Great tacos!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2014

This little place had the best tacos! My husband and I really enjoyed eating there. We were just passing through the town of Harrisonburg and staying at the Hampton Inn around the corner.

“Great lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2014

Stopped here for a quick lunch while traveling. Very clean, with great authentic Mexican cuisine at reasonable prices. Staff courteous and food delivered promptly. Only reason did not rate a 5 was although lunches reasonably priced, $2.49 for a soft drink seemed disproportionate.

“Best Restaurant at Exit 243”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 1, 2014 via mobile

If you're staying at the less expensive Hampton at exit 243 on I81, you'll find your restaurant selections challenging. Not to worry. Make a left at the light and travel a few feet to The Sub Station. We planned to grab a couple of subs and enjoy them in our room with a glass of wine. Instead, we found a charming, authentic Mexican grill that also happens to make subs. We decided to stay and had great service and two wonderfully prepared quick meals. One was a special, Barrito Barbados, which is shredded spiced pot roast with cheesy rice in a homemade flour tortilla. It was served with a little side salad and some homemade taco chips. Delicious. The other meal was Crunchy Tacos with steak. Fabulous! There are authentic Mexican soft drinks and sauces, a bevy of great margaritas and beers. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have Al Pastor and fish tacos, too! The menu is inventive. This is a definite reason to stop for eats at exit 243 in Harrisonburg!

“Good Mexican Food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 9, 2014

We have eaten here twice, most recently in May, 2014. They serve good Mexican food, and offer a nice bottled beer selection for your meal. They also make sub sandwiches and we hope to try one on our next visit.

“Very Solid Mexican Food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 16, 2014

I was very happy with my meal at the Sub Station (and located in an old Waffle House, to boot!). I had four soft corn tortilla tacos, two with Barbacoa (shredded beef) and two with Apobada (spicy shredded pork) with cilantro and onion. Delicious! A ten buck tasty dinner. Very good food and very friendly service. The chips and salsa were excellent, too.

I'd go back in a heart beat.
