“Nice place to stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

We had a family member book us a room for us and they choose this one for us. It was a great room, very large with a small room with it. The smaller room and larger one both had two flat screen tvs. This was a great bonus for us with three kids. It was nice and clean and the beds were great. It was booked last minute for us since we were in Northeast PA during Hurricane Sandy and had no electricity. The only negative point was we could hear some music faintly through the walls, not sure where this was coming from. Also whoever was above us, we were on the third floor, was one heavy walker....back and forth a lot during the night. Other than that we really enjoyed the room. We didn't use the pool, since I forgot swimsuits, but the pool did look nice. The staff was nice and friendly. We will probably be staying here again.

My family and I had to get away from the coast the week of Hurricane Sandy. We live on the water, and we didn't want to risk it. Arriving late Sunday before the storm, the hotel employee could not really have cared less about our predicament.

I was most put out by two issues. First thing was that they would not even cut us a deal on an adjoining room. We have a toddler who goes to bed at 7 which meant we'd all have to go to bed at 7 unless we could get a deal on two rooms. No go. Even in a nearly vacant hotel, it was nothing doing. Really, Fairfield, you can't spare some room to just put a pack-N-play in? Poor form.

Bigger than even that, they put us in a room directly up first floor speakers playing either in the pool or the work out room or nearby. During the first night, we thought it was a loud second guest...what can you do? They say the rooms are soundproof, but I guess if you have a ceiling speaker under the floor, it's hard to sound proof that. So, we didn't say anything.

The second day, we realized it was the speakers. Late in the day, we went into the two areas and turned off the speakers. Again, it was really quiet as there were not many guests, but last at night the music was back. This time, it was too late to do anything about it.

Bottom line..we got screwed up in that regard. They have to have had issues with this before, so why put us there when the hotel is nearly empty? For this reason, I will not be back.

But I can't fault the property. Seemed extremely clean, the pool was clean...even the hot tub was clean. High marks there.

But the next time we need to escape or even head toward Luray Caverns or JMU, we'll try somewhere else.

Room Tip: Check your room! Sit in it extremely quietly when you first get there. We were on the backside of th...

Very clean and comfortable, staff was friendly, great location, nice area near the university and hospital. Good choice of restaurants in this area as well. Tried to book for the return trip and they were booked for the entire weekend-Reserve early folks.

Room Tip: Reserve early

Second visit and as good as ever, great rooms and a small swimming pool good location and a very reasonable price. No restaurant but close enough to a wide variety and a reasonable breakfast is servedc in the lounge, mainly self service.

We stayed here one night after touring JMU. Room was a bit musty, but we could've requested a change and they would've accomodated us gladly - we were just too tired to move! VERY spacious, comfy desk chair, beds were comfortable. We didn't use the small indoor pool & hot tub but they looked nice, and breakfast was well stocked & staffed. Overall, a nice stay.

Room Tip: Second floor was easily accessible with a very nice stairway or elevator, quieter than the first flo...

We've traveled to Harrisonburg yearly for the the past 20+ years (only missing a couple years in the process).

This was our first stay at the Fairfield Inn and Suites. It is a good clean facility. The people at the front desk are very helpful and accommodating. Nothing at all to complain about in regards to this facility except the rooms did seem a little small.

One thing that really aggravates me though (and has nothing to do with the facility or it's workers) is the manners of some of the other hotel guests. Is it really necessary for a young family to pull their car up as close to the front entrance as they can to block the door so other guests can't get in or out... and after they realize this fact they don't have enough manners to move the vehicle a few inches? It's incredible how inconsiderate others can be. Manner's really haven't went out of style, even though it would hard to come to that conclusion based on some of the guests encountered at this hotel. These folks would be surprised (maybe even astonished) how far a simple "please" and "thank you" would get them in life. End of rant!
