My wife lived in Texas while in college, and I lived in Phoenix for 20 years, so when she wants Mexican or Tex-Mex, she wants to go to Abuelo's. I had the Fideo con Pollo--Chicken breast lightly sautéed with a cream sauce and seasonal vegetable medley, then tossed with Angel hair pasta. Topped with diced tomatoes. My one and only complaint would be that they used too much sauce. It packed plenty of cheese and spice, so they could use less. Next time, I'll order it light on the sauce. It was delicious, but and she had a two enchilada combo meal. She loved the ground beef taco with the fiery queso. Both were excellent. The frozen margaritas and the Sangria Swirl (similar to Z-Tejas' Chambord margarita) were delicious. Dinner for two plus three jumbo drinks was just around 60 with tip.
We were too full for dessert. We were seated and served promptly, and our server was attentive without being overbearing. It was a 6:30 meal, a lively crowd, kid friendly. We will be back.
