Pretty spacious park, mixture of flora and fauna. Nice nature display of snakes. Dog park, have to register. Camping is available.

We have been going to Sandy Bottom to walk for quite a few years. My wife has a back issue and on leg is longer than the other. She looks down the entire time we walk looking for roots that cross the trail. There are some paved or sandy paths but most of them go through the woods and have a LOT of roots, rocks and tripping hazards. She has trips many times. The last time we there was last spring when there was lots of leaves on the trails. She didn't see a branch that had stuck in the ground and broken off as it blended with the leave. She went flying and landed on a large root on her thigh. She didn't break it but she had a 10' by 10' hematoma. 6 months later it is still 3" by 3". So, it's great to walk there but do be careful...they need to take care of the paths and paint the roots so they are more visible. When we go again she'll be walking on the wide open path or road and I'll meet her after walking our dog through the woods. She says she'll never walk a path through the woods here again.

First visit to this awesome hidden nature gem. Tucked away in the middle of a city is hard to imagine but while there we honestly forgot we were still in the city. We enjoyed the park and the nature center. Very knowledgeable staff. Thank you for a fun day.

Sandy Bottom Nature park is a great place to visit rather you are going with family or friends. The park contains nature trails, fishing area, row boating and a dog park. The trail is not paved, but is still easy for a run or just a walk to explore the nature. There is also park areas to have picnics or cook on the grill. There is a also an area where you can see turtles, fish, snakes, and other other amphibians. There is also a great meeting area where you can plan parties or meeting with a great view of the lake and patio area.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much there was to do and see there. The nature center is small but has a lot of creatures to see up close. Outside has seating to view the water and it's turtles and fish. There are trails to walk, kayaks and paddle boats to rent, and cabins for overnight stays. It's definitely a place to explore nature!
