The hotel is located in a perfect spot, with private beaches and full of pine trees. There are numerous activities if you like to spend your day in or if you have children, but you should probably start learning italian, as most of the relevant personnel speaks italian (as we found the hotel is a popular resort for Italians). The service is perfect and the personnel very friendly, but the rooms (without refrigerator) and the food rather average for the money you pay.
Honestly I do not know if I would stay there again but probably would do so due to the limited hotels on the island.

The hotel is well-taken care off. The rooms are simple but ok, especially the ones on the west side with the view. One problem is that they don't have a refrigerator. You have to walk a steep hill to get to the bar/restaurant. There is a great variety of food for lunch and dinner but the quality is average, definitely lower than the average quality of Greek food. Breakfast is not so great. The staff is concerned mostly about the Italian tourists, ignoring the rest. It is not a nice place if you want to get a sense of a Greek island. It is good if you don't want to see anything else beyond the resort and you don't have a problem walking the steep hills. The beach at the hotel is not a big deal while the island of Alonnisos has some wonderful beaches (eg Chrisi Milia). Moreover, the Chora is very nice. If you have a bike or car you can explore other places, otherwise you are stuck at the resort.

Room Tip: The front line of rooms on the west side have an amazing view to the sea and the sunset. Most of the remaining rooms have a garden view.

My wife and our two girls (7 and 11) spent a week at Marpounda Village. We live in Manhattan, and love the Greek islands - in the past 10 years we visit a different island every summer.

Marpounda has been our only disappointment… Though the hotel is located at what is perhaps the best part of the Alonissos island, it appears to cater exclusively to Italian group-based crowds. As a result, the hotel has nothing of the unique character and style that only the Greek islands offer. We booked directly with the hotel at a premium price (which explains why we were the only ones outside the all-inclusive crowds…). Our rooms were very small and basic (we’ve been told that the hotel was built originally for divers), and there’s a steep walk from the rooms to the beach and the common areas.
