“New Forest Luxury”
Reviewed February 22, 2015 for a stay in February 2015

A half term break found us at Venards Lodge, and we loved what we found. Beautiful House, comfortable and well equipped it was a pleasure to stay.

New Forest Ponies on the doorstep literally and close enough to local amenities and attractions, it suited us perfectly. We were a party of 2 families and our kids were so sad to leave.

One area of improvement I would make (to the owners) would be we were short of information on how to "operate the house". A user manual including things like heating instructions, oven instructions, tv and satellite information, and also local tourist info would make this our perfect new forest retreat.

So glad that Venards Lodge did not disappoint and that you all enjoyed your stay. I am sorry it wasn't me here to welcome you as I would have not only shown you how everything works but would have shown you the folder which contains all the instructions. But I appreciate the comment as I will have to ensure if I can't be here to welcome guests personally that whoever takes my place explains all. Thanks so much for taking the time to do the review, I really do appreciate it.

“A perfect escape away”
Reviewed February 9, 2015 for a stay in February 2015

Having read the previous reviews we were all very excited about our annual family weekend away in the New Forest (6 couples and a baby). This is the 4th time we have been and everyone in the party agreed this was by far the best, most luxurious place we have stayed. Not only is Venards Lodge perfectly located with country pubs and a farm shop on your doorstep, not to mention the beautiful walks right outside the front door, it has been very tastefully decorated to rival boutique hotels. Nadine the owner welcomes you with a beautiful hamper packed with goodies along with the most delicious homemade cake, if you want a stress free weekend in beautiful surroundings and a fabulous home from home then book now as you definitely won't be disappointed. We just need to book a date for next year now!

“Wonderful”
Reviewed February 2, 2015 for a stay in January 2015

I can only endorse what others have written. Venard's Lodge is first class; extremely comfortable, extraordinarily well-equipped, located in beautiful surroundings, and ideal for we four couples to get together to celebrate the life of Robert Burns.
Nadine, the owner, is so welcoming and generous, and bakes a mean cake too.
I couldn't recommend Venard's Lodge more highly.

For the third year in a row I've gone away in the New Year with my family. We've just spent a lovely weekend in Venards Lodge. An outstanding converted barn with log fire, aga, comfy beds and cosy living rooms. Location spot on for walks in the New Forest, a short drive to the beach, local towns, excellent restaurant and a pub within walking distance.
We visited early January but Venards Lodge would be a great place to stay all year round with so much to do in the surrounding area.
Just watch out for the New Forest horses who will take any opportunity to get in the garden as we found out!

“Exceptionally Good”

We cannot believe how lucky we were to find this self-catering accommodation in which to spend our annual, winter, family, short break. It is hard to find fault in anything right from our initial inquiry, through our welcome and stay, to our reluctant departure.
Nadine was the perfect hostess: warm, friendly, relaxed (not too many 'dos and donts'), very helpful and available when we needed any assistance. The hamper of beer, cake and preserves which Nadine prepared for us was a lovely touch.
Venards Lodge is situated just inside of the western boundary of the New Forest with Fordingbridge, Ringwood, Christchurch, Bournemouth and many other places on the coast and in the forest within in a 30 minute drive. The local village is tiny but a pub, farm shop and excellent restaurant are all within a 10 minute walk along quiet country lanes (at this time of year there are more horses than vehicles on the roads).
Along the side of the property is a track which leads up to the New Forest heathland where you could go on a different walk every day of the year if you wished.
We were a party of seven adults but the Lodge is designed to accommodate eight in comfort. It was equipped with everything we could possibly need during our stay - we particularly enjoyed some of the things which were not essential for our stay like the log burner in the dining room (there is central heating throughout, but a real fire seems to make things cosier) and the Aga in the kitchen (there is a modern electric cooker, but we did almost all our cooking with the Aga because it was not only a novelty for us but also quicker and easier to use).
Venards Lodge was ideal for our winter break but we can see that it would make an even better base from which to explore the New Forest in the summer.

Vernards Lodge is an absolute gem. Stunning setting. Enormous and extremely comfortable beds, and the finest lemon drizzle cake we've tasted.

“Peaceful surroundings yet plenty to see & do”
Reviewed September 24, 2014 for a stay in September 2014

As a party of 4 adults and 2 children we stayed at Venards Lodge for 5 nights from the 29th August.
We arrived at the lodge much later than originally planned. After a dreadful 9 hour journey from the North West with a 3 year old and poorly 9 month old we were very relieved to arrive. Nadine was there to greet us. We were made to feel very welcome and Nadine even made sure to point out the telephone number for the local doctor should we have needed it for our son.
Due to the longer than anticipated journey it was dark when we arrived at the lodge and we were all feeling a little exhausted. There had been a mix up with our online shopping order earlier in the day which meant we had to travel approx 20 minutes into Bournemouth that evening to collect it. As a word of warning to anyone placing a grocery shopping order with Adsa ensure to put directions in the comments box as the driver had been unable to find the Lodge.
When we woke the next morning we could appreciate how idyllic and beautiful the Lodge was. It was in a beautiful quiet spot with wild donkeys and horses (which my eldest son adored) regularly stopping just outside to graze. We ate our meals together outside each evening enjoying the tranquility. The interior was classic, comfortable and practical. There was everything one may need during their stay e.g. dishwasher, tumbler dryer, an array of kitchen accessories, Sky Tv, children’s games and a computer console etc. The welcome hamper of fresh eggs, jams, spreads, delicious homemade cake and a keepsake spoon was very thoughtful!
There was plenty to see and do in the local area. There is a handy basket full to the brim of local maps and leaflets for local attractions. During our stay we visited Peppa Pig World (the main purpose of our trip), Dorset Donkey Farm, the Bournemouth AirShow and Exbury Gardens & Steam Railway. We were fortunate to have good weather except for one day. Looking through the leaflets provided we decided to visit Dorset Donkey Farm. My son really enjoyed it here. Having originally arrived with the expectation of staying for an hour or two, there was so much to do we ended up staying there all day!
In the handbook Nadine kindly requests that you ask should you wish to look at the horses that are kept in the stables. We knocked one afternoon and Nadine was kind enough to show us around and introduce us to the horses. She also gave my son a bucket of chicken feed. He became quite attached to the chickens which roamed freely around the grounds. They cottoned on very quickly that my son always had food and should the door unlock they came running round the corner very quickly! Nadine was very friendly even knocking on our last morning to take my son to collect some eggs. I came home wondering would I end up having to buy him a chicken!
This was my first ever break away in England (I'm almost ashamed to admit). After many years of continental holidays our stay near the New Forest was a refreshing change and I have promised my son that we shall definitely return to Venards Lodge!
