The meal we had here was fine, generous (read: way too big!) portions and tasty. The staff was friendly, although the service was a bit slow, but they were busy. The restaurant needs a bit of updating, it looks tired.
My main complaint about the Royal Oak was the very noisy man who talked, loudly and incessantly throughout our meal. I knew we were in trouble shortly after we were seated, and considered having the waitperson move us, but he was so loud and obnoxious that he dominated the whole seating area. I wished that the staff had told him to keep it down, as it obviously disturbed all the other patrons.
