Conveniently located just off I-66 near Front Royal and it’s Civil War history, Skyline Drive, wineries, caverns, and our destination, a local Country Club, where we would attend a wedding. In fact, the hotel apparently does a lot of business around weddings.
The hotel looks new and sits atop a hill offering both golf course and mountain views. Check in was friendly and efficient. The bright and open lobby provided comfortable seating areas. Our room was neat and clean with the amenities we expected – two queen sized beds, a small refrigerator, a flat screen HD TV, a thermostat that worked, free internet service, an in-room coffee maker, and a good sized bathroom full of towels.
Houlihans restaurant and lounge are connected to the hotel. We only had drinks but were pleased with the service and although tempted to try the flight of doughnuts with chocolate dipping sauces we ultimately passed.
The only negative was the desk staff tried but were clueless when it came to providing directions to local sites. They had no idea how to get to the Country Club that was only 5 miles away. And their directions to the local winery were totally wrong.
Otherwise, both the hotel and the stay were just what you’d expect from a nice new Holiday Inn. And at $ 120 the price was right.More
