We've stayed at the Hotel Floyd many times while visiting family. We've recommended it to many people always telling them that they will be pleasantly surprised. The Hotel Floyd is really a wonderful boutique hotel, perhaps the nicest in the area. Now pet-friendly suites have been added. Consistent with the rest of the hotel these suites are wonderful. There a lot of little considerate touches that make the stay for both you and your pet enjoyable. The suite has a small, full kitchen allowing for breakfast and light lunches in the room. There are stainless steel dishes for your pet and a large dog bed. Outside there is a well-lit area to walk your pet with a fully stocked clean up station. The two pet-friendly suites are separated by a maid's supply closet between the rooms so that a barking dog in one room will not disturb guests in the other room. We really appreciate the ability to travel with our two Cavaliers and still have a nice room for our stay! Kudos to the management!

My wife and I and Samson, our standard Poodle, were traveling the Blue Ridge Parkway and needed to find a place that accepted great dogs and tolerated people as well. The Floyd Hotel was listed in some places as 'pet friendly' but not in others. I called and was informed that there were two, very new, rooms for accomodating travelers with pets. I booked and when we arrived we were shown to our 'suite' for the evening which included a great bedroom, bath, kitchen, sitting room....all of which was done in 'pet motif' with pictures and welcoming touches (including bowls for food and water) for Samson. He was most impressed. The town of Floyd proved to be fascinating and we had a great, if short, visit. We will definitely visit again.
Not only were the accomodations wonderful, so, too, was the staff and owner. We had visited a local live music venue (on a Wednesdy night!) and inadvertently locked ourselves out of our room. This is a small town hotel and the 'overnight' management who live on the premises were on vacation. No one was on site. What to DO?! Knowing small towns I called the police department, who called the hotel owner, who called an employee to come out at about 11 p.m. to open our door. Because she was concerned the owner actually showed up on site first! Soon after the day manager came, let us in, and apologized to 'us' for the inconvenience. (It was me who needed to apologize to them.) When we gained entry to the room, Samson, who had been sleeping the whole time in his comfortable little kingdom, gave us an 'are you kidding?!' look and sauntered out for his evening routine.
Needless to say, this was a wonderful one night experience. And if these traveling Floridians ever get close again, we'll try to make the Floyd Hotel our destination.

This was our fourth stay at the Hotel Floyd and the fourth different room. I 've had to travel a lot in my job and stayed at every motel & hotel you can think of. All of the Inns' ( Days, Comfort, Holiday, Quality, Red Roof ,etc.) and while the buildings and front desks may look different, the rooms all look the same. The furnishings, carpets, wall decor, beds, bathrooms seem to have been purchased from the same supplier. But not so with the Hotel Floyd. Each room is a special offering to the guests. Each piece of furniture, the beds, dressers, side tables are crafted by local woodworkers. Other artesians make the lamps, bath tiles, even the soap dishes. The doors, trim and baseboards are all solid oak. There's no dirty carpeting here, just nice solid wood flooring. All said the Hotel Floyd is a special place, run by special people, that make YOU feel special ! Thank You !

We stayed at the Hotel Floyd in order to attend the Floyd Fandango Festival off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The welcome was warm, our room was spacious (room 110) and very clean. The decor was Malawian--apparently the owner brings back items from his travels. The room tended to be rather dark and while there was a reading lamp in the closet you had to unplug the other reading lamp in order to plug it in--no gain in light. There were rocking chairs on the porch and the weather cooperated so that we were able to enjoy some time sitting out there. We liked the layout of the room with a foyer between the door and the room and the toilet and shower separated from the sink/'microwave/refrigerator. The hotel is located away from the main streets of Floyd --and Floyd is a great town to explore--but not so far that you can't walk to shops and restaurants. We did not hear any noise during the night and enjoyed a great night's rest. We would definitely stay here again if in Floyd.

We only planned to stay for one night, but loved the accommodations, friendly staff and overall town that we were fortunate enough to stay another night. The rooms were a beautiful sight to motorcycle weary travellers. We will be back. Tom & Sandy Ager & Jim & Coleen Berkoben

My wife and I finished a camping trip with a night in Floyd. The Hotel Floyd is a great place located within very easy walking of breakfast, lunch, dinner, music, shops and more. The staff offered excellent advice on what to do and helped us make the most of our short stay. The rooms are clean and simple with all the needed amenities. I highly recommend the Hotel Floyd to anyone looking for a great place to stay in this eclectic, Crooked Road town.
