“Unexpected Fine Dining”
Reviewed June 16, 2014

In short, the website for this restaurant does NOT do it justice. You must try this restaurant out if you are anywhere in the area. The decor is beautiful, like something out of downtown DC. The entire staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was simply delicious! Everything we had was fantastic. Including my cucumber martini and "Betty's cake of the day". Thank you for a great anniversray dinner with my husband!

“25th Anniversary lunch”
Reviewed April 17, 2014

We made reservations for our 25th anniversary and was met with flowers on the table and a complimentary glass of champagne each. Since it is a lunch menu, the accommodated our wish for a steak meal. The meat was awesome along with everything that came with it. We also ordered the desert platter which came with four deserts. We thought we might have to take some home, but each was light to the stomach. We were able to eat all the desert with no problem. The staff was the best.

“Excellent review of their catering services!”
Reviewed April 5, 2014

This is a review of the their catering service's. We have always had great experiences in the restaurant but we needed food for the Old Dominion Hounds Point to Point Horse Race. Gave Chef Marvin and Manager John a budget with only two requests, PB&J's for our ample tyke crowd and a soup and let them run with it.

I can't tell you how much of a hit everything was! Loaded Baked Potato Soup in a chafing dish, heaters provided, with homemade bacon crumble, scallion and shredded cheddar for a topping, grilled flat bread sandwiches with house roasted ham and turkey with all the fixings, a great pasta salad with just the right amount of dressing, feta and olives and a platter of homemade tortilla chips, celery and carrots with a dip that we're still trying to guess what was in it. Top it all off with a dessert tray that satisfied everyone form 1 to 100 and you have a great afternoon in the Piedmont. My only issue was that we went out and bought plates, bowls, napkins, etc. only to find out that the Public House supplied those too! .

I did get tired of telling people I don't know how to make the soup as I didn't make it, but was glad to tell them where to get it!

“Great Sunday Brunch”
Reviewed March 31, 2014

We love to go to brunch on Sunday afternoons and try to go at least once a month. This was our first visit to Flint Hill Public House and we were quite pleased with the experience. The dining area is comfortable although not anything special. The tables are somewhat close to each other so I imagine that it could become quite noisy when it is very busy but we were fortunate that wasn't the case while we were there. Our server was prompt and very helpful with descriptions of several menu items and assisted with recommendations based on our likes. We were very impressed with the portions and the quality of the food and definitely plan to go back again..

Dear Formerfed:

Thanks for the review we are glad that you enjoyed your Sunday Brunch with us. Yes the tables are a little close but you can always ask to be seated away from others if you prefer. On a nice day we also have a gorgeous patio that overlooks the back grounds and guests love being out there. Thanks again for your review, and we look forward to having you dine with us more.

“Decent food close to being a really good restaurant”
Reviewed March 3, 2014

I can honestly say that I visited this restaurant on a whim, with a group of friends that wanted to visit after a day visiting the area. The restaurant was very accommodating with the reservations and expanding by two on a short notice for a Saturday night in the winter. There ambiance was rich but noisy because of the high ceilings and wooden floors. We were seating in the front room where is was full with large groups and one particular group was quite loud. The table started off with fried calamari - it was tender but the breading was thick and simply good but nothing extraordinary - just ok. I ordered the Caesar salad with the roasted duck special. The rest of the table ordered the wedge salad. There was nothing remotely special about my Caesar and the edge of the leaves had been cut with a knife so they were a little bit brown, but the entire table boasted over the wedge salad and said it was great. My duck was tender but somewhat soggy but editable (I have had it were the skin was crunchy but this was not the case.) The sauce over the duck was perfect and really delightful brown glaze. The roasted veggies on the side with the Brussels sprouts, onions and potatoes with flecks of bacon roasted with was excellent. If I visited again I would order something else. Most of the table had the fish, my partner had the ribs which he said was very tender and fall off the bone. Big portions were served so we could have probably done without the calamari. It was an ok meal, the menu is large so in the future I plan to give this restaurant one more try. The service was average, nothing negative to say or nothing exceptional either.

Dear Sara,

Thanks for your insightful feedback and comments. I will discuss your comments with the staff so we can correct any shortfalls and improve in areas you outlined needing attention. We are also researching sound baffling materials that will blend in with our decor. The recent installation of the glass doors to create a vestibule and provide a buffer zone during inclement weather. We are always looking for ways to improve and hope you will visit us again soon to see our progress.
