What a great place to stay while in Farmville!! Easy to find, ample parking, and within walking distance of just about everything in Farmville (I realize Farmville is not that big!!). The rooms were immaculate, the service top-notch, the breakfast both mornings we were there was unbelievable and Laurie was great to work with!! I would highly recommend to anyone staying in Farmville!!

We were very pleasantly surprised how spacious and beautiful our room was. Updated shower also extra nice. Another surprise was the delicious breakfast prepared by Harland a local Attorney who likes to cook and prepares the breakfasts at the Inn. This was not just breakfast but a gourmet's delight. Berries (strawberries and balckberries) with fresh made whipped cream and a balsamic vinegar dressing (tastes wonderful). Fresh made French Toast with lavender butter and real warm maple syrup, yum. Harland prides himself in finding recipes to satisfy the most discerning palate. The Inn is very clean and the staff makes you feel right at home. We plan to make a return visit next year. Farmville has a great trail for those who like to hike and see nature.

Room Tip: All rooms are good.

The room was beautifully decorated and very ornate. We made our reservations 7 months in advance. We had a difficult time making the reservations due to the fact that we could not get a hold of the manager. I have two small children, and so I asked if they were child friendly. I was told that due to the fact that the party that I was staying with would have a majority of the house rented this would not be a problem. Upon arrival, we were asked that if our one year old started crying that we take him downstairs or they also suggested that we could take him outside. The bed was not comfortable. There was a hard piece right in the middle of it so my husband and I had to sleep on opposite sides of the bed or squashed into a space the size of a twin bed. For $145 I expected a better bed then this. The room was supposed to be $105 plus $20 for the roll a way for my son. Which I felt was a little bit steep. I still have not figured what the rest of the charges were, and I cannot get a hold of anyone to speak to them.

Room Tip: Not for families

We traveled to Farmville this past weekend and stayed at the Longwood Bed & Breakfast. The main reason for our trip was to shop for furniture at Greenfront but we ended up having a great time walking around the beautiful town and campus plus taking in some great meals. The B&B is a wonderful house with a great location. Most everything is walkable. The rooms are big and nicely appointed with newly remodeled bathrooms. Everyone we met during our stay were very welcoming. We didn't know what to expect but on our return to Ohio we now have a very favorable opinion of Longwood B&B, Farmville and the people of Virginia. Don't hesitate to call Lorrie at the B&B. She is a great local resource.

The Longwood University Bed and Breakfast was built is 1880 and served as the residence for the local universities' Presidents for 80 years. Now it is an open to the public B&B with six rooms that have been remodeled to include fresh modern amenities, private baths, and historic antiques. There is no live in proprietor, but you will be greeted with a plate of brownies in the foyer, self service coffee, and access to the kitchen for glassware and ice. The morning breakfast was served in the dining room and included wonderful french toast, bacon and fresh strawberries. The property is walking distance to downtown furniture shopping and my favorite restaurant in the area, Charley's Waterfront Cafe. Highly recommended.
