“My Favorite Asian Restaurant in the US (and I use to live in Taipei!)”
Reviewed September 3, 2013 via mobile

I travel extensively (domestically and internationally) and this continues to be my favorite Asian restaurant in the US and one I come back to French when I'm in the DC area.

The signature Peking Duckis always great but another favorite is the Almond Chicken (almost like dinner and dessert all in one!).

Ms Lilly (one of the owners) has regularly taken extra efforts to meet sometimes unusual requests.

The exterior is deceiving, not what one expects from such a quality operation, but once you get through the door, it all comes into perspective. Highly recommended.

“Best Chinese in DC Area”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

I have been going here for over 30 years. The father opened the restaurant when imigrating from Bejing. He perfected smoking the duck in a special oven. I have eaten Peking Duck all over the world including the famous Duck restaurant in Bejing and theirs is still the best. The family has owned and operated this restaurant all these years and maintains a high standard of food and service. The best dishes beyond the Duck are the Beef Proper and various meats with fresh garlic sprouts or onions which they harvest from the family farm.

“Nothing special”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

Not sure why this place gets such rave reviews. It's nothing special at all, the same bland Chinese you'll find in 100 other places in the DC area. It's just more expensive here. Didn't help that in a party of three, they got one order wrong and another wasn't served until 10 minutes after the first two. Shockingly overrated.

“It is still the best Chinese Restuarant in DC!”
Reviewed August 22, 2013

If you are burned out by eating Chinese meals that all feature the same canned "Chinese White Sauce" or "Chinese Brown Sauce" and you have decided that you no longer like Chinese food; go try the Peking Gourmet Inn. While the hundreds of photos on the walls of every notable person who has ever traveled to DC tends to be a bit over the top, simply ignore them and have a feast. You haven't tried stir fried garlic sprouts with whatever meat or fish dish you want? Try it! The duck is a mandated item that you must have the first time you go there. The sauces are made at the restaurant and are different for each dish. The food is simply excellent and plentiful. No shortchanging the customer here. One notable sign is that there are always large Chinese families eating there and smiling. Service is always professional and outstanding. Like the title says, it is the best.

“Still excellent”
Reviewed August 19, 2013 via mobile

We visited peking gourmet twice in three days and both times it was excellent. The best dishes were Jeo Yeo shrimp, Szechuan Beef Proper. Pork with Plum Sauce and Ginger Beef.
