Description: Opened in 2010 in Falls Church, VA. Pizzeria Orso is family-friendly authentic Neapolitan Pizzeria that also showcases an assortment of globally-inspired small plates. Pizzeria Orso features an enormous custom-made volcanic brick oven handcrafted by Forno Napoletano for the restaurant, in Italy. True to traditional Neapolitan technique, the pizza dough – which uses a sour starter - at Pizzeria Orso is naturally leavened, never refrigerated, and baked in the wood-burning oven at approximately 800°F for 90 seconds. Pizzeria Orso was named as one of the top 50 Best Restaurants by Northern Virginia magazine and was also recently awarded Best Italian Restaurant by Northern Virginia Magazine.

Took 10 minutes before our glasses were filled with water. I didn't try to say anything and was just waiting. The restaurant is not quite busy by the time we arrived and got seated. Our server walked passed us so many times before even asking what we would like to drink.

Pizza's are bigger than 2amys in Washington D.C, I must say the Margherita tastes just like 2 amys....The octopus with artichoke is a good starter, grilled perfectly. The place is very nice for families.

Pizzeria Orso, located in a downtown Falls Church office building, has all the ingredients for a very good dining experience: fresh ingredients prepared with care, knowledgeable and friendly staff, and a chef who visibly loves people as well as good food. We ordered calamari (lots of it, hot, and with a choice of marinara or basil aioli), endive salad (yummy pomegranate dressing and buttery triple cheese), BLT gnocchi (tender, tasty) and the capricciosa pizza (ham, artichokes, shitaki, fontina and olives....another tasty combination). Chris Nye, the chef, was quietly overseeing chef and wait staffs and also checking in with customers. He treated several of us seated at the bar with salads of fresh heirloom tomatoes dressed with light basil vinaigrette and fresh ricotta. It was a pleasure to smell and taste a ripe tomato. Pizzeria Orso offers quality draft beers and wines by the glass or bottle as well as "recipe" drinks. It appears to be appealing to the neighborhood: children eat free on Tuesdays; wine is half price on Wednesdays; happy hour is extended to 7 pm, Monday through Friday. It's not inexpensive, but if Chef Nye maintains consistency with food and service, Pizzeria Orso offers good value.

We live in the area, but this was our first visit to Pizzeria Orso. We had a group of seven people, who all ordered appetizers and pizza and we all enjoyed our food. The pizzas were very Italian authentic, but rating a pizza is very much a matter of personal preference. The people at Pizzeria Orso seemed more impressed by their offerings than we were. Pizzas were good, but soggy in the middle and VERY THIN crust. This is very much like what we have had in Italy, but that does not necessarily mean it is the best pizza. Wine selections were limited but were satisfactory and within the usual price range. Only a few beers on draft and none were the usual US varieties. The selection of appetizers included some very unusual choices, but what we had was good and everyone in our group enjoyed their selection. We would definitely return, but would probably try other options instead of the pizza. Service was OK -- very talkative and very impressed by the novelty of the oven and food choices.

Tried the new menu for the first time. Had the BLT Gnocchi, Marinara and Diavola Pizzas and the Olives. Everything was delicious. Service was excellent. The pizza maker let my two kids have their own pieces of dough to play with, just a little something they didn't have to do, but did. My husband tried the espresso and said it was better than many we've had in Europe. We recommend everyone give the new menu and cook a try, I don't think you will be disappointed.

My husband, little girl and I ate at Pizzeria Orso, Friday night and we just loved it! The small plates were delicious; we shared the meatballs with polenta, the roasted olives with Rosemary
(the take-out are even better the next day) and the grilled Octopus. Then for dinner we had their signature pizza the Orso, it was really, really good. In addition, the restaurant is family friendly, I have a 9 month old and she loved looking around and making noise. No one cared if she got a little loud, just a little loud.
