Finding others saying good things AND being close to where I was at the time, we decided to eat here. The Sea Pearl is excellent! The map shows DC Metro to be nearby, but NOT close enough to walk, however, very nearby garage parking is FREE (nice touch for the DC area).
The experience was great, with outstanding food, excellent presentation, well above par taste, comfortable and clean décor, and great service from start to finish.
The Sushi rolls on the menu looked good and next time, I’ll give them a try. Instead we had;
Crispy Duck Dumpling - Toasted pine nuts, ginger, honey, saki, soy dipping sauce -
Different – but did not expect ‘fried’ from the description on the menu. Two of them were a bit overcooked but all said and done, they were tasty, probably would not try these again.
PEI Mussels - Steeped in white wine, jalapeno, garlic, ginger, cilantro & sweet soy -
The mussels were good – for people who like mussels, this one would be a good choice.
Crab Spaghettini - Roasted tomatoes, pickled wild leek, garlic, basil, olive oil, crushed red pepper & toasted lemon panko - this dish was well prepared, very tasty and incredibly filling.
Panko Crusted Crab Cake - Mango salad, green apple, mint, Thai basil, cilantro & yuzu kosho aioli - Maybe Maryland crab, maybe not, when I asked the server, she did not know but, whatever it was – it was good – nice crispy and flaky crust on the outside, smooth creamy crab on the inside.
Overall, the Sea Pearl is well worth the trip and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone who might enjoy a twist on Asian cuisine.
