“Rare place in the region”
Reviewed November 15, 2012

Went to Captain Pell's last night with friends. Been there many times over the years and it never fails. When you walk in you realise this is not some fru fru place, it looks like a dive with everything worn and signs from diifferent orginizations over the wall. But this is the appeal of Captian Pell's it is a crab house and crab houses are messy places! Due to the small group instead of crabs we had entrees. First time for me. I had the crab cakes and the portions were very generous. The two cakes were large and tasty, the server stated they were made daily in house and tasted like it. The fries were good as was the cole slaw. We also shared spiced shrimp which were large and well done. Captian Pell's is what it is and it does it well. If you like crabs or seafood and are looking for a place where you can just relax and not worry this is it.

“The best (and only) crabs in town”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

Capt. Pell's does a grea job steaming crabs. The are a bit on the pricy side, but then we are used to getting them straight from the watermen. The crabs we have gotten there have been the size advertised, steamed and spiced just right, and hot!. You can eat on the premises or take them home. Either way, it is great to be able to have a crab feast even away from the Bay.

“September 2, 2012: Can't recommend Captain Pell's. Not worth price”
Reviewed September 2, 2012

Boiled shrimp were overcooked & tough. Crabs were OK to wife but she said she wouldn't be going back there again for crabs. $106 for 6 crabs ($39), 12 tiny clams ($14), one lb. of boiled shrimp ($19), two corn ($6), two fries ($6), plus tax & tip. Very loud music & dirty premises.

“We keep coming back!”
Reviewed August 16, 2012

My wife is a huge fan of Maryland Blue Crabs and this was our third visit in as many years to Captain Pell’s for their all-you-can-eat crabs. The casual atmosphere and butcher paper table cloths are perfect for this type of messy meal. Personally I prefer the crab cakes – same great crab meat without all the hassle.

My wife and her sister worked their way through the first tray of crabs and when they got down to two or three remaining; our server brought another batch without prompting. The crabs were of decent size and good quality. The crab cakes were moist and tasty, the small container of cole slaw was excellent but the fries were a little greasy. We’ll undoubtedly return next year.

“Would go back again!!!”
Reviewed August 5, 2012 via mobile

We had a party of three and we all got the all you can eat. We got there about a hour after they opened so the crabs were fresh and we received a mixture of medium and large size crabs which was a mixture of male and females.

The only negative that I have is the butter is extremely salty and it hardens very quickly. They charge $0.50 per cup of butter, which should be free.

Other than that, I would go back again.
