We are from Arizona and my wife is Mexican American. We have been stationed here for a while in the Military and I cannot believe the bad reviews of this place. Folks clearly have never had real Rancheros style southwest cooking. There are so many TexMex places around here that serve really poor quality Gringo food. The enchilada sauce is the real thing, Hatch New Mexico red chili, not tomato sauce which you find often around here. REALLY, tomato sauce on enchiladas? I have eaten at most of the Mexican places around here and they are all TexMex Gringo stuff. Give this a try if you want real southwest rancheros style mexican food, not TexMex.

This restaurant was a true disappointment. The food was poorly prepared and the service was only fair. I have never had Mexican food that had such a heavy thickened sauce, it reminded me more of an Asian dish. The Friatias that were not sizzling, the vegies were mushy and none dishes were even warm. We were all truly disappointed in our dinners and in Anita's.

Anita's serves Mexican dishes that are uninteresting and bland in flavor. The dishes served will not upset your stomach but then the dishes won't excite your taste buds either. The salsa provided was lacking in any spiceiness; the refried beans were almost a sauce. It's mediocrity throughout. Most every other Mexican restaurant in Northern Virginia beats this one in terms of tasty food. The service suffered not because of our waitperson but because management seemingly has understaffed. One waitress for the whole restaurant! She tried hard but it's just too much for one waitress to handle.

Ate at this location: Anita's New Mexico Style 10880 Fairfax Blvd, Fairfax, VA. Only regret is missing Happy Hour! All in all, the selection, quantity, and preparation of the food was delightful. Sat outdoors, and enjoyed that a lot. Steady take-out traffic suggests it is popular. They serve breakfast here, too, and I bet it is popular! Look forward to returning some day!

Our experience started off so poorly we almost left - luckily, we stuck it out because the food was surprisingly good. Our hostess seemed distracted and dropped two menus (for three of us) on a table as she kept walking. Took too long for our waiter to arrive. Asked for Dos Equis Amber and received Lager. The Sprite was pure carbonated water, no syrup at all - took 10 minutes to get a replacement. Brought us the tiniest bowl of chips and salsa I've ever seen. The light over our table flickered randomly. But at least the food was good - fresh vegetables, and everything was very flavorful. Probably won't be back, even though it's right next door to the hotel.
