“Very Nice Property”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2011

Hubby & I were guests in this hotel in August during the earthquake! I was on the treadmill and hubby was showering in our room. The exercise room like in most hotels is in the basement of the hotel with the pool. The water in the pool was rolling and there were pipes banging, knocking, the floor was moving along with the treadmill moving. Yes, hubby was on the top floors with the building swaying back and forth! The hotel did not loose any glass that we knew of and the equipment in the basement stayed in tack!

Our room was not overly large but adequate. It was very clean and well taken care of by housekeeping. The big problem with the room was NO STORAGE! There were 2 small drawers under the tv stand for you to use and that was it! We had to live out of our luggage and that was not fun. The closet was normal size.

The hotel had a free shuttle service that would pick you up from the train service but it did not run all day and would only do pick-ups at the appointment time. We finished our business in Washington, DC early and called the hotel to see if the shuttle would pick us up before the pick-up time of 5:00pm and were told that they did not do early pick-ups. We ended up taking the train back to the station in VA and then taking a taxi to the hotel. We ended up paying $20.00 just to take a 10 minute drive back to the hotel. That was a bit of a downer but other than that the management staff and housekeeping staff members were absolutely wonderful at all times.

Room Tip: Our room was very quite so we don't have a tip.

New style SS is ultra modern and has excellent customer service but the cost cutting measures are obvious. I requested a 1st floor room near the lobby and got it but it was down an unheated corridor. Had to blast the heat to warm up the room and keep it warm, and the heater fan kept me up all night. The room layout is quite odd, with weird angles and corners. Furniture looks trendy but cheaply made. In a difficult to find location. Close to Fairfax Town Center but it took 15 minutes to drive 3 miles from the hotel. Skimpy on the toilet tissue and Kleenex box had two different color tissues so obviously added to by cheaper brand. Business center is typical two station desk in lobby with printers that don't work on demand. Disappointing! Customer service was excellent but I don't want to keep going to front desk to ask for more supplies that should be readily available in room. Few parking spots near door then a three level parking deck adjacent. You're better off to go up and park near elevator instead of taking the last spot on a lower deck or you'll be lugging your luggage a long way. Breakfast was mediocre.

Yay! This pool was not harsh like other pools have been to me. The front desk is very accommodating when asking for more towels or supplies. The room was Large, 2 beds kitchenette, desk, sofa room, vanity space, bathroom. Only complaints about the room was one trashcan, which was stuffed by the end of our stay. There was no coffee for the maker in the room, and the pool needed a refill of towels in the evening and in the morning. There is no hot tub. The pool Closes at 10pm, better than 9 but Best at 11. The pool Opens at 10am, which is rather late. The exercise room, 2 treadmills, rack of weights, water cooler w headphones, bouncy ball :) For breakfast, there was lots of room for seating, Dont care for the food really, my son is tired of grains, since were Veggies. Would have been nice to see sliced fruits, I think there was oatmeal. There was Belgium waffle maker (1) w prefilled cups. Seem to be frozen english muffins, mini muffins, bagels. Toast, orange juice, apple juice, coffee. Variety of yogurts. Overall Great Value!! Would stay again at the Marriott because their pools are properly taken care of.

If staying in the Fairfax or Centreville area, this is the only place I stay. They have full suites (2 rooms) at a single room price. And a very competitive price for this close to the Washington DC area. They have a free shuttle to the DC Metro. The front desk personnel are knowledgeable, courteous and helpful. The management is positive and asks if there is anything else they can do to make your stay better. The property is very clean. They have a pool. They have a free parking garage. Great restaurants nearby. You get the idea

We stayed at this property 11/19/2011 in order to see the world renowned Andrea Rieu Concert at the Patriot Center at nearby George Mason University. The Hotel is well located within 10 minutes of the univeristy and many rearby restauramts and shopping. Our rate was a bargain at $79 for this quality property. We arrived 2 hours before normal check in time, but this was no problem for the friendly and efficient staff. We were in our suite within minutes. The room met all the high standards of Marriott. Everything was exceptionally clean, the beds very comfortable and the linens of high quality.

The The amenities included a wet bar with microwave, sink refridgerator & coffeemaker. The flat screen TV included many channels. The lobby is large,
well laid out with tastefull, comfortable contemporary decor & furnishings. It
offers 24 hr. all expense paid coffee & tea.

The all expense paid hot breakfast is a big plus and includes all the usual
breakfast items and then some. I particularly enjoy the self service waffle
maker. For all of the above reasons, we always look for a Marriott property first when we travel.

Room Tip: I believe all rooms are well located

Our GPS directed us in the wrong direction so I called the hotel and spoke with Sara from Durham NC. She gave us great directions and we were at the hotel in less than 5 minutes! When we got there she had a huge smile on her face, welcomed us to the hotel, asked us what we were in town for. We were actually there for a campus tour of a local university. We settled into our room and a few minutes later our phone rang. It was Sara and said that she was just checking on us and she wanted to know how we liked the room. It was wonderful, super clean (a big one for me!). She also offered us some local restaurants for dinner that night. I would definetely stay at this hotel again.

What an amazing experience! For only $79/night I didn't expect much, but this hotel is unbelievably nice, impeccably decorated and updated, and the staff is awesome!! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the front desk and artfully designed lobby. The rooms are quite spacious with separate living areas. It's close to several restaurants and shopping areas, and the staff is very good at giving directions and advice for food choices. There are also several places that deliver to the hotel. The breakfast each morning was great and was always restocked. Sometimes it got a little crowded in the eating area but never that bad. It is a bit out the way, and deep in Fairfax, away from 95, but you're only about 15 minutes away from it. Overall, I'd stay again.

Room Tip: All the rooms were immaculately clean.
