Natural Tunnel State Park

This state park features an 850 foot long natural tunnel is still in use by a freight train. Paths of about 10 trails are well marked and most are less than 1 mile each. There is also a log cabin on one of the trails. Admission was only $2 per car. The chairlift down into the canyon was $3 round trip, but could be avoided by taking the well maintained hike down into the canyon.

Something for the entire family. Much history is to be enjoyed and the scenery makes it a plus for any visitor.

My daughter took me to Natural Tunnel SP thinking I would like it and she was right. It's a great park for a nice hike, viewing scenic rock formations like Lover's Leap and the tunnel, and appears to be a fun spot for families. During their busy season, they also have a chair (ski) lift you can use instead of hiking to the bottom (or back to the top) to view the tunnel. We hiked several trails and checked out the tunnel, which has a track for a working train. Because of the train, you are not allowed to walk into the tunnel. There were several families with kids on the day we visited and everyone seemed to be enjoying the park.

Enjoyed the chair lift down to the tunnel but did not like having to pay to park when we went to walk the trails. Peaceful with nice camping spots and a nice public pool.

We stayed in one of the cabins over the Christmas holidays and had a great time. The cabin was spotless, stocked with everything we needed, and the staff were super friendly. We are planning another stay in the summer.
