Description: This restaurant was an accidental find while we were visiting Harrisonburg, VA. We arrived close to 1pm and there was a waiting line to get in! The area is home to many Amish families and the restuarant has two parking spaces in a nearby stable so the horses with buggies can stay out of the sun and the owners can feed/water them while tied up! The wait staff were very friendly and the other customers offered suggestions for us! Country food and comfort food at its finest! The entrees and desserts were all delicious! This is a must stop for everyone, families would love it!

“Great home cooking”

Not many entree choices but tons of sides. The broccoli salad was delicious and both my husband and his cousin raved about the squash casserole. Good service and great value.

“Nice Little Restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2013

We were at the Shops at Dayton and wanted a spot for lunch that was nearby. We read the reviews on the Thomas House and were favorably impressed. When we arrived, we were struck by the quaintness of this little restaurant. The interior was larger than the exterior suggested but was still pretty cozy. The décor was down-home creating a very comfortable environment. There were several specials on the board at very reasonable prices. I had the baked chicken which came with two excellent vegetable sides including a very good broccoli salad. The other members of my family got a three-side plate (squash casserole, cranberry salad and broccoli salad), a pork sandwich and shrimp. All said their entrees were tasty. The only complaint per se for me was that the coffee was unremarkable at best. The prices were quite attractive as the four of us ate for slightly more than $40 with tip. This homey place is a very good value and worth a visit.

“To Grandmother's House We Go!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2013

We stumbled upon this place on a slow meander up Hwy 42, just west of Harrisonburg, Va. I invite you to take the business loop of 42 through the town of Dayton. There are several darling shops and cute 2nd hand stores.

We walked into this pleasant hometown eatery and saw a feast before us for under $10.00. I had baked chicken, a roll, and two sides (stewed tomatoes and chopped broccoli salad) with strawberry shortcake even! My husband had the meatloaf, mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese.

The food was lovely and well prepared. We were actually planning on a fancy dinner later, but decided this was a perfect romantic date. It's like a visit home to Grandma's and you'll love it.

I live in Dayton and this is one of my favorite little restaurants. It's home cooked food and great service. They serve you at breakfast and supper and lunch time is cafeteria style. It is very inexpensive and a great value!

The food here is of the most superb quality. Always very tasty, and hot. Have stopped here many times on our way South for the winter.
