If you just enjoy a relaxing day on your kayak or out in a canoe, this is a great lake to visit. It takes a little bit of maneuvering so take your Smartphone with a GPS app...but it is well worth the drive! The area is absolutely beautiful!!!

Beautiful campground, friendly staff. Clean, accessible showers. The tent pads had recycled rubber components to make them softer and the sites were of good size. Swimming area is great, lots of space and well maintained. Also had great trails of varying lengths for exploring the park. Site 12 in campground B is of exceptional size with a great view of the lake.

We stayed in cabin # 8, which is the furthest we go for roughing it. Beautiful 2 bedroom cabin that was well appointed with little to bring besides the food, you, & your suitcases. Well-laid out park with signs. Swimming was nice with opportunities for canoeing and other watercraft. We will definitely be returning next year for a week stay!

On short notice we checked online and then called and were able to get a cabin reservation in #10 for a long weekend in late June. The drive was pleasant and the park is about 3 hours from NoVa. If you are not already stocked up with supplies, you should do so at the Food Lion or Kroger's once you get about 30 miles from the park as there is only a small convenience store at the park entrance, which is good for gas, bait, misc items, and also has a grill for various prepared foods.

We arrived on a Thursday and the park was pretty empty, however the cabins seemed to be pretty fully occupied, and the park was full on the weekend. The cabins are located in a quiet area away from the general camping, were very nice of newer cedar construction, clean and wonderfully equipped as advertised (like a 2 bedroom condo). We weren't lake front but the lake with a nice fishing spot with bench and small boat launch was only a 5 minute walk. We fished from there using fresh Canadian Night Crawlers purchased at the convenience store and caught about 30 Channel Catfish, Large Mouth Bass, Sunfish, and Bluegills over 2 days. They were delicious! :-)

The beach is a short drive over to the other side of the lake, is life guarded and has a nice play area in the water for tots, a general swim area for adults, and a fishing pier. There are also lots of picnic tables with bar-b-ques available, a concession stand with WiFi; and canoe, kayak, row, paddle, and trolling motors available for rent. No gasoline powered motors are allowed in this 40 acre lake, which really keeps things peaceful.

Needless to say we had a wonderful time hiking, fishing, swimming, bar-b-queuing (the cabins have a large Fire/BBQ pit as well as a standing BBQ) and just rocking away and talking in the beautiful moonlit evenings on the porch...
