We love visiting Culpeper on weekends to shop Main Street and grab lunch at the dog-friendly alley of It's About Thyme (owned/operated by the same folks of The Copper Fish). After enjoying the early part of a Labor Day weekend Saturday with another couple in nearby Madison, VA, our group arrived in Culpeper late afternoon and decided to visit The Copper Fish to take advantage of the Happy Hour (5-7pm) specials. So glad we did! The seafood appetizer specials consisting of an array of oysters from both East and West coasts, and jumbo sized shrimp were priced reasonably and were absolutely delicious. The waitstaff were wonderfully attentive and friendly, as well as, very knowledgeable about the oyster origins. These appetizers couldn't be any fresher than if were were sitting by the water, and that is exactly the illusion The Copper Fish provided to us that Saturday afternoon on Main Street Culpeper. House wine offerings and cocktails specials topped our Happy Hour experience and we've decided a return trip for dinner can't come soon enough! Hope the same attention to detail and satisfaction offered during a Happy Hour visit will be equally experienced during a dinner visit.

“Overpriced”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

We should know by now to ask the price for any "special" at this restaurant and the owner's other restaurant It's About Thyme as they never offer the price. But $40 for an 8 oz piece of halibut? Then they automatically add 20 percent tip and then "forget" to take off our $25 certificate. We aren't cheap but I would have expected Wolfgang Puck cooking my dinner at that price...I am a local and won't be back.

“Good food, excellent service and great ambience!”
Reviewed June 18, 2012 via mobile

My husband and I decided to try a new Culpeper restaurant for lunch today. We needed to wait to be seated and were invited to wait in their bar, which was very nice. We then were seated. I ordered the grilled salmon and my husband ordered the ahi tuna. We were both impressed. We also had a few glasses of the house cabernet wine, which was very good. Last but not least, we both had a cup of cappachino. Again, very good. So overall, even though we low-carbed our entrees, the food ended up being very good. We WILL dine there again! Note it is pricey but to us, it was worth it!

“Pizza!”
Reviewed May 28, 2012

When we saw the wood fired pizza oven we had to have one. It was the best I've had since we were in Italy last Oct. Thin crust, artichokes, tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, and arugela. Yum. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Their deli counter was enticing. We grabbed a table outside between the buildngs and enjoyed our Sat afternoon lunch. Glad we found it.
