“Great B&B in the 'new' Culpepper”
Reviewed March 4, 2006

Fountain Hall is wonderfully comfortable and perfectly situated within an easy (5 minute) walk of downtown Culpepper. It's also convenient to nearby attractions. Loved the B&B and the homemade croissants. The room was large and very comfortable. We walked to downtown, which has undergone major changes in the last few years. There are several excellent restaurants, many antique shops, and fantastic specialty shops. We will return to visit the museum and perhaps hike in the nearby mountains. Culpepper is not far from Barboursville, which has a winery and a terrific restaurant. Prince Michel winery (nearby) also has a fine restaurant. This is the perfect B&B and location for a long week-end and doing some exploring of the town and nearby countryside.

I stayed at the Fountain Inn in July of 2004. I got a first floor room with queen bed and private bath. Quiet neighborhood. This is a really big house ... there are 3 sitting rooms to choose from. It was all absolutely clean and the bed was extra comfortable. My only complaint is that there was only a continental breakfast, not something fancier. The fruit and pastries were fine, but other B&Bs do more. An excellent place to stay and explore vibrant downtown Culpeper and the area's historic sites.

I stayed at the Fountain Hall in 2002 and friends stayed there last year. It is the perfect Culpeper-environs B&B. Kathi Walker makes croissants and serves them with apple butter, preserves, cereals and yogurt. Coffee, tea, and other refreshments are available. I stayed on the ground floor Butler room (named for the surname Butler, not the profession). Lovely room, lovely bed, roomy & bright bath,. Very clean and very cozy. The B&B is located in the heart of Culpeper, a quaint historic town in the foothills of the Blie Ridge. Nearby Brandy Station suffered the largest cavalry engagement of the civil war. Budding archaeologists may be surprised to learn that hug dinisaur bones have been found nearby. Like all of Virginia, Culpeper reeks of history.I will stay again at Fountain Hall soon~
