I've been to several wineries in northern and central Virginia, and this one is now one of my favorites. What I look for in a winery is great wine, friendly and knowledgeable staff, a relaxing atmosphere, and picturesque setting. King Family had these qualities in abundance. We did not find it overly crowded and the atmosphere was very charming and low key. Our tasting was very reasonably priced and we were given the glass as a souvenir. The woman who served us was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines. She also told us the history of the winery. The family who owns the winery is from Texas, which you can tell from the tastefully decorated tasting room. She also gave us an extra tasting from a bottle not listed in the tasting menu. We also bought two bottles of wine to take home with us. We bought a glass of wine and relaxed in their charming dining area with a lunch we brought with us and looked out at the beautiful mountainous setting. Apparently when it gets warmer you can watch polo matches on the land, and the winery uses golf carts to serve the spectators. It sounded like a popular event, and I'd like to come back for it. Overall, it was a really nice, relaxing time.
