Owner description: At Grace Estate Winery an old world family heritage blends a new world wine tradition with Virginia terroir. Visit our friendly tasting room. Enjoy the fruits of our labor and the beautifully intimate vineyard views. We host live music and a food truck every Friday night from 6:00 - 9:00 with select wines discounted by the bottle and glass. We also seasonally feature live music Saturday afternoons. A separate Wedding & Private Event Venue is available at the Grace mansion.

The winery offers tastings until 5 PM, but you can always sample a bit before you buy a glass or bottle. Vendors are on site for additional food choices.
The estate offers a nice view towards the North and East, and offers music on Fridays. The grounds have a lot of room to let kids and dogs run around.

What a place. Estate is definitely the right word!
As you pull off the main road - you can't believe that the winery is on top of the hill, but as you drive and drive and drive (watch for deer) you realize it is.

Despite the guides that say "by appointment only" - they are now open to all.

The view is nothing less than spectacular, and I'm only giving them 4 of 5 stars because the tasting room is a bit barren. I'll give them a pass as they've barely been open.

Tables and chairs adorn the large lawn that faces east and overlooks the vineyards.
Currently, it's Bring Your Own Food to the outside tables -- and I truly hope that they keep this practice going as it encourages people to stay and enjoy a bottle or two.... as we and several other groups of people were doing as such.

I agree with egoodell - soon people WILL discovery this new and opulent winery!

Service: Friendly and energetic
Tasting room: Basic
Wines: Surprisingly enjoyable
Food: Small selection
Parking: Ample on the grass
Ambiance: Open, friendly.
Grounds: Good experience the views for yourself (check out my pics!)

> Need more than one bathroom stall for men & women
> Need to build a classy bar for the tasting room - perhaps a U shaped one that allows patrons to be in the middle, but having serving areas all around.
> Great logo! Need to brand it better. Perhaps some unique merchandise. Perhaps some unique wine glasses.
> Market the place for weddings!!

The wine is good, no question about it but the tasting room is primitive and rudely staffed. Very rudely and inadequately staffed! The view has lovely potential but you are pretty much treated with little regard, there is nothing available for purchase and we have been informed that the property owners are going to move the tasting site so that will nix the great view. My question is what are they hoping for and how do they expect to appeal to seasoned wine consumers? Why go here when just a few miles away there are at least 7 other lovely and gracious wineries with equally delicious choices. Just a thought...why waste the day?

We so enjoy tasting at Grace Estate Winery we hesitate to write a review as the crowds will start to discover it! The wines are wonderful - a great example of what the Charlottesville area has to offer. There are outside tables with umbrellas for picnics and beautiful sweeping vineyards for great photos.

If you want to get an idea of how the VA wine industry began, go to Grace. Like others in the area, Grace began as a grower and then got into winemaking. The tasting room is at the starting level. You can sign your name on the bar. Grace has one of the top winemakers in the region, Jake B. He was at Pollock. This is an example of VA winemaking at its finest. If you are lucky enough to have Judi serve you, it will be an experience you won't forget.
