I am a regular at this restaurant and have NEVER had a meal that was anything but superb. I need to add more characters here.

Just moved to Olld Trail and fell in love with our new Italian bistro, da Luca Café. I am on a strict diet and they were so accommodating. Our server, Jess was warm and so knowledgeable regarding the wines, beverages and food. We were a party of four and we all loved our meals. It was restaurant week and we enjoyed a 3 course dinner for $26 Worth every penny..My sister said her cocktail was perfect, not overly sweet.

Our several meals, over a number of months, have ranged from pretty good to awful, with most pretty average. The most recent was downright crummy, from top to bottom, from a fussy unmanageable salad to fern bar-style risotto balls to a crabcake that was not nearly as good as one I got an ordinary diner a couple of weeks later, and we left most of the (smallish) dishes unfinished. The kitchen is not nearly as good or as consistent as that of Anna's, the less expensive pizza/pasta place next door. If you have never had Spanish tapas before, then the novelty might appeal to you, and the outdoor seating (albeit on the main road of a sprawling housing development) and its lovely mountain views can be a great plus on the right evening. But this is not high quality cooking. (Birdwatchers: eastern meadlowlarks and kildeer may be visible from your outdoor table in late spring and early summer.)

We chose the Sangria over wine. It was excellent! We went late and the restaurant was half full. We were seated immediately We were fortunate to have a very knowledgable waitress who helped guide us through our choices. First out was the shrimp ceviche It was just fabulous This was followed by the spiced Moroccan tuna and roasted Brussel sprouts. Unbelievably good. The risotto was our fourth choice and the most disappointing. After all the flavorful dishes previously, this was a little bland. I am not a huge dessert eater but I find a good bread pudding hard to resist. This was not just good it was the best ever . A subtle hint of almonds and it just melted in your mouth. What a wonderful first time experience!

Dinner Sunday eve, had the scallops & hubby had the Mahi. These are our 2 favorite dishes here. A friend went with us this time, she had the fish tacos & thought they were fabulous. This time, the Mahi was a little tough, not quite as good as usual, but still pretty good. We are always pleased with the service and food. Was not crowded so we were able to have a very peaceful dinner & chatting with our friend. Very relaxed & laid back time.
