“Disappointing”
Review of Willey's - CLOSED

Willey's
Cuisines: American, Barbecue, Seafood
Description: Chef owned roadside Mom & Pop specializing in Hickory Smoked BBQ featuring NC Minced Pork, Whole and Half Chicken, & Large Pork Spareribs. Also offering fresh local seafood (in season) including fried oysters, homemade crab cakes, & spiced shrimp. Hickory Smoked Prime Rib available on Friday and Saturday (5pm til.....Sold out) during the summer season. Other local favorites include Buffalo Wings (the real thing, fresh chicken, cooked to order, rolled in authentic Buffalo Wing Sauce), Pig Skins (potato skins stuffed with BBQ Pork, topped with cheddar cheese and chives), homemade hush puppies (golf ball size!), Giant hand pattied fresh ground beef burgers. All of our side dishes are homemade, as are the salad dressings and the BBQ sauces (hot, mild, and NC vinegar). Willey's always has a pot of homemade soup on the stove. 2013 Finds us celebrating our 21st year of excellent homespun cuisine and service. Many thanks to all of our customers from near & far. Your hosts, Willey & Trisha

“Disappointing”
Reviewed September 19, 2013

I have not been in Willey's in perhaps 4 years. Coworkers were talking about bbq and I suggested Willey's. We got a large take out order. Unfortunately everyone was pretty disappointed. There were a number of problems. The buns were stale. The steak fries were limp and underseasoned. The NC bbq sauce was very vinegary yet lacking in flavor. The vote was split on the baked beans and the slaw. Out of 5 people, only one said they would consider going to Willey's again. What a shame. The food used to be awesome.

“Good Ribs”
Reviewed August 30, 2013

Got a take out rib platter from Willey's.
RIbs were good, had obviously been boiled prior to cooking (because they were so tender); very large and meaty. I could taste some smoke in the ribs, but they sure didn't look like they were smoked (no smoke ring anywhere) so it's hard to tell. Sauce (the mild) was good, really complemented the ribs.
Cole slaw: pretty good.
Beans: Good.
Fries: just ok.

I'd go back; I'd sure like to try their chicken.

“Good barbeque food”
Reviewed July 21, 2013

The place is not not much to look at from the outside; there are a lot pig decorations on the inside. Food was plentiful, service was decent. This is a local business, not a chain. The food is good, keep in mind this is not fancy at all.

As usual the food was great. Over the years I have made it my Friday night dinner. The food is always good, consistent, and affordable. You will not be disappointed. It is the best BBQ around

“best ribs around!”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

their menu is varied between pork, seafood and beef. You can get a rack of ribs or a fabulous burger and their crab cakes and hush puppies keep you coming back for more. The staff is friendly and efficient.
