We camped at the state park this last weekend. It was a very nice, clean park. They have a nice visitors center, bathrooms, etc.
We took a couple hikes while we were there. They have a nice hike that takes you down to the beach where you can look for shark's teeth. Very beautiful!
They have many camping spots that are set up very nicely. They also have cabins that you can stay at also.
We will be going back for a nice weekend!

There is an entry fee per car - but take your family here for the day or several days of picnicking and fun. You can cook out there if you wish. There is a pool (fee for swimming) or you can wade around in the Potomac River or go kayaking or paddling. There are cabins to rent, activities for kids on many days, and there are hiking trails. KIds can successfully hunt for fossils. It's shady and cooler than you would expect on a hot day. Photographers will love this beautiful place. Visit nearby Stratford Hall (restored Lee family plantation), George Washington's Birthplace, or combine your trip with a visit to Colonial Beach VA and stay in one of the B and Bs or Inns there.

This was a nice place for a day trip, although there seemed to be enough to do and see if you wanted to stay longer. They have rental cabins, some of which were close to the Potomac River (The Potomac River Retreat house.) There was a $3.00 vehicle parking fee for the day. We went to the pool which was along the river; there was a $4.00 per person per day fee. The pool was quite nice with bathrooms, showers, lifeguards, diving boards, and a slide. They also had a snack stand near the pool. There are also miles of trails. They also have lots of picnic tables. There were two picnic pavilions available for rent for large groups. This park was was worthwhile visiting.

This a beautiful park with several miles of paved roads perfect for biking. It also has a pool, many picnic areas, camping, rental cabins and I believe mountain bike trails as well. We were just there for a brief visit but I would like to return.

We camped at Westmoreland St. Park for one night over July 4th weekend. It is a gorgeous State Park with many things to do. We took our 2 boys, ages 2 and 3, who had a great time at the beach and at our campsite (Campground B). They offered numerous activities (S'mores Party, Lightning Bug Hunt, Shark's Tooth Adventure, etc.) that we look forward to taking advantage of when we come back for a longer duration. I was quite impressed with the long list of things they had scheduled!

The campsites were nice and shady, very clean, and spacious but some sites were closer together than we'd like. However, if you get there early, you can find plenty of spots that are more private. The firewood was affordable (you have to purchase there) and made for a delightful fire! Even though the park was almost full, the noise level was very low - impressive. The staff was pleasant and helpful.

I recommend a visit to the local beach which has kayaks and watercraft that you can rent. It's a lovely spot and my boys loved wading in the calm water. They have grill equipment if you wish to cookout and a small shop that has a few items but no restaurant. We didn't get to hike to fossil beach to look for shark's teeth but we'll do that next time.

I must say, I was hesitant to try a new place after we learned our favorite spot was booked, but Westmoreland turned out to be a new favorite for our family.
