Five guys makes no pretense. They serve burgers and fries (regular or creole) and nothing else. The burgers are as good as they get in Blacksburg (yeah, better than Mike's). The atmosphere is finished concrete floor with peanut shells. The tables and chairs are metal and you order at the counter and they call you when your order is ready (you have to go back and pick it up). It stays busy at lunch and dinner time. There is another Five guys in Christiansburg a few miles away. The food is as good, but the atmosphere is a little shinier and sterile.

I stopped in to give this place a try, and I have to say I am floored at how much these guys charge. A friend and I got two hamburgers two orders of fris and two drinks, and the bill 25 dollars. The bugers are not big at all, and did not impress me at all. Who spends that type of money on a burger. Crazy

Was very happy to see Five Guys open because nearby Wendys sliding downhill the past couple of years in basic cleanliness.
Have been to a couple other Five Guys and this is the same. Clean, and a very friendly staff that says hi when you arrive and bye when leaving. Outdoor eating is available, rare in this area. Burger meat excellent. They make to order with your condiment selection. Fries are very good, fresh and hot, but too salty like most places, so I rub off the excess salt on a napkin.

Dropped in on a Thursday evening to try them out. This is a new establishment in Christiansburg. They seem to be coasting on a word of mouth reputation from their other franchise sites.

2 hamburgers, a single small order of fries and 2 soft drinks came to $20!

Ambiance was that of a very clean warehouse. Standard decorations for the franchise including boxes of potatoes and peanuts cordoning the ordering line. A plus is that you can eat all the peanuts you want while ordering and waiting for your meal.

Fast and courteous service at the counter. Menu choices are limited to hamburgers, cheeseburgers and hotdogs, plus fries. We ordered 1 serving of regular sized fries and received a huge serving.

Signs around the restaurant proclaim "voted best hamburgers in Blacksburg", but the restaurant is 5 miles from Bburg. The annual list of "Bests" published by the Roanoke Times comes out this weekend and I would bet money this place is not even mentioned. Mikes in Blacksburg has been the #1 burger place for years.

I watched as the burgers were cooked and sandwiches prepared. And I tasted the straight burger meat in my sandwich. Nothing remarkable stands out - to me this was just another patty cooked on the grill with standard finishing options, e.g. Lettuce, tomato, ketchup, etc. After cooking, the meat is transferred to a finishing counter where the condiments are added. In the final step, an employee wraps the burgers in aluminum foil before calling out your order number. Basically the wrapping consists of crushing the foul around the sandwich. That did not affect the taste, but was not the best visual presentation of the "best hamburgers. . ."

Overall, a good, but not remarkable hamburger. Overpriced. Fun environment considering the peanuts and college crowd. But, we've "been there, done that" now. Probably wont return unless invited by someone else.
