A very relaxing weekend with the wife. She requested accommodations with a single bedroom (we had cottage 8). The view was great looking out over the water. We were 30 yards across the parking lot from the pier where we caught crabs and left on our kayak trip. The place was VERY small, but nice and clean. The kitchen was suitable for my wife to cook some great meals for us from the crabs we caught (about 40 keepers for two days worth). On our kayak trip we were fortunate to see ponies. Apparently, according to our guide, after the pony race in late July they are a bit spooked and seeing them is sometimes difficult. The man working there was very helpful and friendly. They kept Bob Marley's Legend's CD on repeat the whole weekend, which was more comical than annoying. There are only two things I would say are not good, which lends to the "average" rating. First, the view is nice, not caribbean AWESOME by any means and it is what is; you get what you pay for. Second, the mosquitos were FEROCIOUS!!! This made it difficult in the evening to really lounge around out by the pier and enjoy the best thing about this place, the cozy dock with its view and fishing opportunities. Also, do NOT go to Chincoteague expecting there to be a lot of things to do. Within two full days my wife and I had basically exhausted the town's options.

While they weren't friendly, we brought our own kayaks, so had no need to rent boats or kayaks there ...
We asked for recommendations for nearby takeout seafood and didn't get much help until we talked to Skippy. He was a wealth of information and we enjoyed his chats while hanging out at the tiki huts in the afternoons.
Bring your own dish soap, Kleenex, towels and toilet paper as they don't supply any of that readily. But it's quiet and relaxing and we'd go back.

We ended a long vacation with a night here - it was a beautiful location and a very calm wrap up to a busy week. Our cottage was full-service (thank goodness for the fridge!) and was exactly what we expected. We liked being able to rent a boat right on site too - we just wish the weather had been more cooperative!

My favorite experience from staying at Snug Harbor is the easy access to so many water-based activities. They have kayaks; canoes; and small local skiffs; available to rent and explore the surrounding islands and beaches. If you have your own water transportation (boat/kayak) then bring it! On land, bicycles, scooters and walking are great ways to get around. The cottages do have a bit of history to them, most are stand-alone, they are fully furnished so you can do your own cooking. Some of the cottages can accommodate your pets, which can be very helpful. The place has seabirds, ponies, and across the Channel is a the Civil War era Lighthouse. Snug Harbor is very unique and for people that like the outdoors or being in a peaceful place.

Room Tip: All of the cottages are almost on the water, i believe one is a couple feet away from the water. Pe...

My family and I just returned from a week's long vacation at Snug Harbor. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon, unloaded and my children began catching crabs for dinner. Basia gave us a pass for the beach for the following two days. We all loved the beach! Skippy gave us a great kayak tour and we were so excited to get so close to the ponies. One day we rented a skiff and spent the entire day on the water fishing, clamming, and looking for more ponies. John, Basia, and Skippy did a wonderful job of making everyone feel at home. My husband and I enjoyed every morning while having coffee on the dock enjoying the breeze. We will never forget the delicious blueberry pie. This was truly one of the best vacations we have ever had.

We went here for our honeymoon and just loved this place. They have quaint cottages on bay front property with docks for fishing, crabbing, kayak rentals, ect. The cottages are very cute and the staff supplied everything that we needed. Snug Harbor is close to the beach and all the main restaurants on the island. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating, the view is amazing (you can see the lighthouse) and we will definitely return.

We stayed here for a private family graduation party end of June. My brother and his wife reserved all the cottages for the guests. I must say that we had a very nice stay here! The theme of the party was Gilligan's Island. The weather cooperated so we went kayaking, took a boat tour and went to the beach. Our cottage was very clean and homey, not luxury (the bathroom was small) but who cares, you are on an island near the beach! Bed extremely comfortable, kitchenette cute, I made coffee and breakfast every morning for my husband and two sons, ages 10 & 14. They slept in twin beds in the living/breakfast area, my husband and I had a large, separate bedroom which doubled as a family room. Best memory is the lighthouse across the bay that shined in to our room at night, very magical and comforting! It can get buggy at night if there is no breeze, that is only "complaint", but several nights were just fine. Bring insect repellent spray. Bottomline is that we would consider staying here again. Our boys really enjoyed this place!

Room Tip: Ask inkeeper if you want a larger bathroom...our shower was small but adequate.
