“Great inn and remarkable innkeepers.”
Reviewed July 7, 2011

I came to the inn with my husband and dog to enjoy the 4th of July weekend. I spoke to Barbara before making the reservation and unlike most of the other lodging options on Chincoteague, Channel Bass is pet friendly.

Our room, on the top floor, was a relaxing retreat. We slept well each night and started each day with a delicious breakfast - we especially enjoyed the freshly baked croissants, ginger scones, and crab quiche. Chincoteague is an amazing place to visit and it's proximity to the beach is just what we were looking for.

Barbara and David made sure that we felt welcome and enjoyed our stay. We would be happy to return again as soon as we can.

We (two couples) spent two nights at the Channel Bass Inn. Barbara and David took care of our every need. On the morning we were to arrive Barbara called us. We informed her we were stopping in Annapolis to tour the Academy and she recommended a wonderful restaurant for lunch. She recommended and made dinner reservations for us both nights of our stay in Chincoteague. Both dinners were delicious. She also arranged a boat tour, with Captain Dan, to see the ponies on Assateague Island. Captain Dan is a native to the island and was quite informative and entertaining. We used the bicycles to ride around the island. What fun. They even have backpacks, towels and beach chairs for guests to use. When it was time for us to leave they gave us directions on how to get to the Richmond train station. We had to leave before breakfast but they made sure we had a light breakfast and sent us off with Barbara's world famous scones and muffins still warm from the oven. Yumm!! We highly recommend a stay here and know that if we ever have the opportunity to return we will.

This was our second visit to the Channel Bass Inn. We came to celebrate our first anniversary last year, and we came back this year to celebrate our 2nd anniversary. We definitely plan on coming back to celebrate our 3rd anniversary! The rooms are comfortable and cozy, the gardens are beautiful, and the food is absolutely delicious! The afternoon tea is not be missed, especially the ginger scones. Barbara and David are wonderful hosts and make you feel right at home. It's located right off of Main Street, which puts you within walking distance to shops and restaurants, and the beach is just a few minutes drive. This is a bed and breakfast worth coming to Chincoteague for!

Barbara and David made us feel so welcome. The room and extra amenities made our trip even better. And of course the breakfast was delicious! We would love to stay there again.

Loved the eccentric charm of the B&B, and the warm, friendly and gracious hosts, Barbara and David. They made us feel welcome, and we plan on returning in the future to stay with them again! We loved how personable they were, and very much appreciated their attentiveness and attention to detail. Truly superb innkeepers and hosts! Sue & Bill Fuchs

We spent 4 wonderful days in this beautiful B&B. David and Barbara are excellent hosts and make you feel right at home. The breakfasts are absolutely incredible. We've stayed at many B&B's and this one is at the top. It is located right off of Main Street and is in a great location for the in-town shops. We highly recommend Channel Bass Inn. Ron & Teresa

We spent 3 nights here and loved the entire experience. The public rooms are extensive, beautifully furnished (as are the guest rooms), well lit for reading, and friendly places to be so that guests readily met each other, which added to the wonderful experience. Our room was well appointed, spacious, comfortable. Little details were all in place (e.g. a night lite in the bathroom, luggage rack). Barbara's breakfasts and afternoon teas are sensational, elaborate, gourmet (if breakfast can be said to be gourmet) and altogether indulgent - perfect for vacations. Barbara is wonderfully warm and gracious and both she and her husband were helpful regarding activities and restaurants in the area. We couldn't have chosen a more lovely destination to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. The #1 ranking is totally appropriate.
