Expensive for what you get, but a lovely setting, pleasant service, very old fashioned!

“It was ok”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 23, 2009

Got here late, and therefore I have lowered expectations of the kitchen. But they seemed to do just fine.Did have about a 20 minute wait ,and were among the last to leave .The food was above-average; the service was prompt ,if not particularly knowledgable ;the atmosphere was pleasant. Not the best restaurant on the Island ,but certainly not the worst either.

“A good place to get seafood”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2009

More of a family restaurant than AJ's, but with good food.. Service can be slow. If you have a seat near the windows, you can watch the ducks and geese in the creek. nTip -get a reservation. Seafood again is good.

“Good food nice place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2009

We eat here one night on our Elderhostel. It was the best place of all the places we were taken to eat. The crab cakes were great. Service was excellent and friendly.

“Great Food - Better than Bills!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2009

After the previous night's awful dinner at Bills, we were very nicely surprised by our seafood dinner at The Village. I will admit the atmosphere is not all that special, but the food is so much better. After our overcooked, frozen, tasteless seafood at Bills, we weren't expecting much, but were surprised.
Our server was very friendly and helpful. We eat gluten-free, and she knew what I was talking about, and even double checked with the chef on a few items.
Everything we had was fresh, and cooked perfectly. We have been spoiled by our own freshly grown organic veggies this year, and I am a very good cook, so going out to dinner is often a let down.
Given the choice, we would certainly suggest The Village over Bills. The lights are not dim and romantic, and there were some well behaved kids there, but the food more than made up for that. It was dark, so I am not sure if they had any sort of view.
