“Very Nice!”
Reviewed July 21, 2007

My husband & I decided on a spur of the moment to drive to Chincoteague on Friday and stay until Sunday. We did not have reservations and happened upon the Island Motor Inn. Luckily, they had a room available. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a room on the third floor and the view was perfect (except for some cranes in the water to the left of the motel). The room was clean and had a small fridge. The pool was great but did not get a chance to try out the hot tub (it closes at 10pm). We ate breakfast at the Island Cafe on the property and that was nice and convenient but a little pricey.

We had a very nice stay and would definately stay here again!

We decided at the last minute that we wanted to make a quick getaway to the beach. After reading the tripadvisor reviews, we booked a room at the Island Motor Resort Inn and we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms and the grounds were kept very clean. There was a small fridge in the room, which was great. The view from the porch was wonderful. The outdoor pool was perfect, but the indoor pool was a little too cold for us. The Inn was located within walking distance of several cafes and ice cream shops, which was also great, though our best meals actually came at the Inn itself with the breakfasts.

As we drove around the island, several other places looked a bit questionable so we were very pleased with our choice of hotels.

My husband decided that we were in work overload and suggested a Memorial Day weekend trip to Chincoteague. We had not been to the island for almost 20 years. I was hesitant as I wanted relaxation, not commercialism. The Island Motor Inn was our first stop. We arrived too early to check in but Mary made us feel welcome right away. We had "packed" our bikes for this trip and used this opportunity to explore a very unchanged island. As the beach welcomed us at Assateague, so did the Island Motor Inn. The room was immaculate and very spacious. Our view of the bay and the evening sunsets were a plus. We could also walk to town for dinner at Bill's and for homemade ice cream (be sure not to miss a stop here) at the Island Creamery. When we were at the Inn we enjoyed the comfort of our balcony, the boardwalk along the bay, the pool and the hot tub (located in a secret hidden room with a marvelous view....just ask for the key.) Just a short block away we breakfasted at the Main Street Coffee Shop where the coffee was bold and tasty along with the scones and other baked delights. The shop is a definite draw for the coffee lovers but also for comfortable clothing, shoes and a wide assortment of tasteful gifts. Needless to say, the island has remained quaint, comfortable and so very relaxing. Thumbs up all around.

We came upon this resort by chance. Great gym, indoor pool, bayside views with abundant wildlife, the room was clean and spacious with a refrigerator. What a peaceful stay. Close to the the wildlife refuge and in between the hubs of town. We also had the most delicious french toast and eggs benedict in their cafe. We can't wait to go back!

My significant other and I stayed at one place on the other side of island for 2 nights (pre-paid), but we were kind of disappointed so we traveled around this little adorable island, and spotted Island Motor Inn Resort, (i liked the way it looked from the street) and decided to give it a try for one night. (I wanted to try and enjoy at least one night stay, this is review of hotel, not island) Boy were we pleasantly surprised, not only by the inexpensive rate, but the cleanliness, roomy rooms, fridge in room, friendliness of staff, view from each private deck, etc. I just wish we had picked this place first. We will be back. Very relaxing. Loved the pools, yes they have indoor(glass enclosed) and immaculate outdoor pool (great way to relax after day at beach) the access to gym (glass enclosed), hot tub, spa, and views from rooms. I will use these amenities next time...not enough time for one day stay. The owner knows what he is doing. I even liked walking thru the little garden. Next time we will stay longer. Thank you for making our one night memorable.

We always stay at this inn when we come to Chincoteaque several times a year, all seasons. We have use of a service/search and rescue dog and the staff is always helpful in accomodating us. We'never had a problem in any way with our stays there. Love the rooms with the balconies overlooking the canal and bay and the boardwalk is a great place to amble, look for birds, horse an \d other wildlife.Last year a family of foxes had made a hole right across the canal from our room, made hours of fun watching them. Never had a worry about the rooms not being above par as for cleanliness, confort and neccessaries. Overall...wonderful place, marvelous hosts,we'll keep returning year after year.In fact as I sit here we are planning another visit this weekend.

We had done some serious research on the area and the various hotels and we were very delighted to find this local gem. The room was clean and spacious and every room had a perfect view of the channel. The price was very ,very resonable especially for a family of 5 just $125 a night . If you have a boat you can dock it right at the hotel. My sons had there first chance to catch crabs right off the dock. The best part of the trip if you ask them. They also had a grill you could use on the dock for a really nice meal. and a mini fidge in your room. The hotel didn't have a room service or a restaraunt open except for breakfast. The staff had a great understanding of the Island and what you could do. Everything they recomended worked out beautifully. We got there just after the pony swim so it was probably a quiet week for them the staff was always friendly and the indoor and outdoor pool was well taken care of. This will be the hotel that we will stay at every time we go. The Hampton Inn was right up the street and had the same view but was twice the money. The mosquitoes are a little ruff so make sure you bring bug spray.
Asseteague reserve was wonderful and you could rent bike to go over there. the beach was so nice and relaxing just $10 a week for the park to bring your car.
We saw people on the beach at dusk with campfires having a nice evening.
Well worth the drive from NJ.
