Great location and wonderful service at this hotel. The room was spacious, all the rooms have a very nice view to the water and access to a lovely deck. Lots of parking available even when the hotel is full (we sated over Labor Day weekend). Pool is open late. Only downside is the rooms were a little musty probably due to the old AC system.

My husband and I chose the Island Motor Inn Resort based on reviews. We had just taken our oldest child to college and were wandering aimlessly in the direction of home. Since we are from Massachusetts, we had a long ride ahead of us and were looking to break up our trip and unwind a bit. Enter the Island Motor Inn Resort. We arrived in Chincoteague with no reservation and no particular plan, other than that we wanted a quiet room with a balcony. We drove up and down Main Street and happened upon the Resort, which looked clean and inviting. It is a little off the beaten path, which is actually nice because it is quiet yet still affords easy walking access to Main St. and Maddox Road, where most of the shops and restaurants are located.

We read a few reviews while in the parking lot and decided to venture into the lobby. We were greeted by extremely friendly staff who suggested a room with a king size bed in the newer, adults-only building. We were pleased to turn the key (yes, they use old fashioned keys not electronic cards) and find a spacious and immaculate room. The decor was a bit dated, but the room was nicely appointed with a reclining couch, coffee table, dresser, desk, luggage stand and TV. The bathroom was split with a sink, toilet and tub in one room and a separate large sink and dressing area outside of the actual bathroom. There was a mini refrigerator tucked inside the closet too. The balcony afforded a spectacular view of the sunset and was equipped with simple but comfortable plastic chairs and a small table. The only thing missing from the room was a coffee maker, but there was unlimited coffee and disposable cups and lids available to guests with breakfast in the morning. The coffee was great and the staff was warm and welcoming. Breakfast was included in the cost of the room. The choices were limited to hard boiled eggs, fruits, yogurts, cereal, muffins and make-your-own waffles - but everything was fresh and delicious and all the fixings were there to make a great waffle complete with toppings, syrup, whipped cream, etc.

The amenities and grounds were also well maintained. While we didn't use the indoor or outdoor pools or the gym, we did stroll on the private boardwalk and enjoy the variety of seating options along the way. There is a hammock, swing, gazebos and a variety of chairs from which to sit and enjoy the views. We loved our first day so much that we decided to say for a second evening (and a spectacular sunset viewed from our balcony). Again, the staff and Toby the cat were all extremely friendly and made us feel welcome. We will definitely return and would highly recommend the Island Motor Inn Resort to families and couples looking to enjoy all that Chincoteague and Assateague Islands offer.

Spent a wonderful long weekend at the Island Motor Inn Resort based on reviews. We were delighted with the location, large room, the private balcony, and the delicious breakfast. Couldn't have asked for more. The personnel were very friendly and guided us to some wonderful eateries during our stay. Would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend the Island for couples and families.

Room Tip: We stayed in the main building on the 3rd floor. Would recommend this to couples.

Since the Anchor Inn gave our booked room to someone else (they did try to fix it but the room lacked a balcony), my sister and I were left without a room. No worries...we ended up with a great room with a great balcony, with a great rate, right on the bay at the Island Motor Inn Resort. The lady at the desk couldn't have been nicer and we were pleased to be greeted by Toby the cat as well. Our room was a bit larger than most hotel rooms and was very clean. it was on the second floor which afforded a panoramic view of the bay and the new bridge. The free breakfast, served from 7am to (I think) 10:30 am was one of the best free breakfasts I've ever gotten. It included hard boiled eggs, belgian waffles with strawberries and whipped cream, fresh fruit, cereals and more. The coffee was delicious (which definitely made up for the room not having a coffee maker). Thank you, Pat for the great breakfasts! The outdoor pool was meticulously maintained as well as the nicely landscaped grounds. It was just a short walk to many of the shops on Maddox. Maid service was prompt and efficient. We never lacked towels. The staff was courteous and friendly. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants a very nice, clean, friendly and accommodating hotel. I'll surely be staying at this place again!

Room Tip: It seems that every room was great!

Thank you for coming to our rescue. After making a reservation at another motel on the island and finding out that our room was given away an hour before we got there, we were put into panic mode and stopped by the Island Motor Inn. The lady at the front desk was very helpful and managed to find us a very nice room at the last minute. She totally saved our vacation. My sister and I can't thank you enough. The room was very clean and the view was absolutely beautiful. We had everything we needed, a small fridge, two beds and a balcony. The room had two nice leather chairs and a table. The bathroom was split, with the sinks on the outside and the toilet and shower in a separate room, which I like. The breakfast was wonderful, belgian waffles, boiled eggs, cereals, fruit, muffins and just about anything you would like to drink and unlike alot of places had plenty of seating. The pool was nice, and had lots of chairs where you can sit and be in the shade. The only negative was the wifi, not so good, but hey we were on vacation it was time to put away the phone. This resort really has gotten everything right and they know what people want and need when they go on vacation. Thanks to all the staff for helping us out and being so accommodating.

My wife an I stayed here in early August for 3 nights for an anniversary trip. Our room was very nice and was bigger than I expected. The view was great. The balcony provided a great place to watch the sunset or just look out over the bay. Yes there is also the view of the bridge but is to the left of the hotel leaving a large area of the view unobstructed (actually I considered the bridge to be an interesting part of the view). I was able to fish at the hotel while the wife read on the bench swing. The pool looked nice. Breakfast was good (Waffles, hard boiled eggs, nice looking watermelon and other fruit ....) The staff was very nice and recommended nice places to eat and activities to full our day. The hotel was also quiet (we did not stay in the adult wing) and there were small children staying near us, but we never heard a sound from the neighboring rooms. I viewed this hotel as an excellent value (the price for a comparable view somewhere else would be way beyond my budget). My wife loved the whole trip with vists to the beach/refuge, nice dinning, sightseeing cruise... but she said the hotel was was the best part of the trip. She convinced me to book 2 more rooms later in the month so we could come back with my daughter and my sister's family.

Room Tip: I would think that any room would be great.
