Hotel very convenient, very clean, and staff were friendly and helpful. Would recommend hotel to friends and family if staying in the area. Went to Oyster Festival and had a great time, meet great people, and had fantastic food.

This is the 4th or 5th Hampton Inn I have stayed at this year. If you read my other reviews, you'll see why I have really appreciated the Hampton Brand - and this location is no exception with one caveat, which I'll get to later. So, it is easy to see why this hotel claims it is one of the most (if not the most) awarded Hampton Inn in the system and why it is ranked the best hotel on the island. It's location is fantastic with a wonderful view out onto the water. Many of the rooms have this peaceful view. All the rooms have nice balconies to sit on. Rooms are clean and up to the usual Hampton standard though the bathroom faucets and vanity may not be the most fancy or up to date, and if you are not on the top floor it is possible to hear guests above you walking around - still overall no complaints. The breakfast eating area is perhaps the best I've seen in a Hampton - again with the wonderful view captured in floor to ceiling windows. The pool and hot tub is also better than most. So the location and overall condition of this hotel clearly shines. The staff were fine but but at least two other Hampton's this year had friendlier staff. Still I rate the actual hotel and location as excellent - and thus my overall rating.

My one caveat and disappointment - and something that you should pay attention to if you plan on taking advantage of the government/contractor rate, a rate that is very reasonable and often available here - which is what we did. I even called Hampton/Hilton customer service to check that even though the booking was in my name, I was going to use my wife's contractor status and was told this was fine. When we got to the hotel, this was not fine and we ended up having to pay the regular rate which was quite a bit higher. This got us off to a disappointing start to our stay. Two points to pay attention to - 1. The contractor rate only applies to one person, so if a spouse/partner is with you, it will not be accepted. 2. You must be able to show your travel orders which we didn't have. I eventually had a good and helpful discussion with Tom, the manager at the hotel who was apologetic that we had found ourselves in this situation, noting it is not the first time this has happened. He explained that he has tried to have Hilton/Hampton add these two pieces of information to the booking details but so far he has been unsuccessful in his attempts. It seems inconsistent and misleading that some Hampton Hotels allow the government/contractor rate without any limitation while others add additional requirements. Bottom line, I encourage those hotels that have extra requirements to somehow list that on their website or encourage Hampton/Hilton to note that there are differing provisions depending on the hotel you are staying.

However, we would still return to stay at this location - we just wouldn't assume we could use the government rate.

Room Tip: Ask for a water facing top floor room

We had a wonderful 3-night stay recently. The hotel is beautiful and is right on the channel. Breakfast was delicious and varied each morning. Plenty of room to eat and watch the morning news. Our room was lovely and large with a fridge, microwave and sink. The staff was helpful and friendly.

My husband and I recently stayed here for a week. The hotel could not be cleaner, nor the people friendlier. We were in our room for five minutes and the front desk called to see if everything was OK. The breakfast nook was spotless and we even joked with the girl in charge that not a crumb had time to hit the floor the way she worked. The beds were so comfortable and shower hot and strong!

Room Tip: We had a room with a balcony facing the bay on the first floor and loved it!

I go to Chincoteague Island every year. We've tried many of the hotels there. Hampton Inn has been the best so far in our opinion. The lobby is beautiful, and it overlooks the water. There is a bridge there, but its not very noticeable. I'd say the worst thing about the view is that there is a condo complex across the way that blocks some of the sunset view. One morning, we saw about 20 dolphins swimming along past the hotel. The free breakfast was better than expected. They had yogurt, breads, waffles, scrambled eggs, hash browns, bagels, all sorts of drinks, and 3 types of coffee. Having the coffee and tea available 24/7 was helpful.

The rooms were very clean, comfortable, and relaxing. We were lucky to get such a nice room overlooking the water I noticed that some rooms are facing other hotels along the waterfront. To avoid this, try to reserve rooms 106-109, 112-117, 206-209, 212-217, and 306-317. These rooms mentioned, have balconies overlooking the water. Most are Double queen rooms, but 106, 206, and 306 are Double queen studio suites. 117, 217, 310, 311, and 317 are king whirlpool studio suites. For the King whirlpool suites, 310 and 311 look to be the best on the floorplan.

The pool and gym looked great although we didn't use them. The business center was very nice with two computers, a printer, fax, phone, and more.

The staff were extra friendly and professional.

Room Tip: try to reserve rooms 106-109, 112-117, 206-209, 212-217, and 306-317. These rooms mentioned, have ba...

This was a very clean hotel. Room accomodations were great and balcony had view of the water. All of the staff from the desk, to lobby/breakfast area, to the cleaning were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel was reasonably priced and a great value.
