“Fabulous Hotel!!”
Reviewed February 13, 2008

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights at this lovely Hotel and recommend it in every way. They give you yummy cookies when you arrive and that pretty much sets the tone for the whole stay. I do recommend booking a waterfront room versus a partial view room, the sunsets on the bay are well worth it. Rooms were very clean and comfy, loved the balcony outside, even in winter. I also like that they all have a microfridge. Staff was very pleasant. They have an excellent continental breakfast (french toast, sausage, eggs) and the nicest breakfasting area I've seen, with lovely water views. Hot chocolate, coffee, and tea are available 24/7! We enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub and I even made use of the treadmill. I have nothing but positive things to say about this hotel and the off season rates are a steal!

I love this hotel. It is the single cleanest hotel I have ever stayed in, including Westins and other pricey places. The staff is friendly, and always on the lookout for things that need attention. For example, while getting breakfast (free and quite good) I noted a small girl who spilled a bunch of milk and cereal on the counter and floor. It wasn't 30 seconds later that someone was there cleaning up the mess, and the entire layout was refreshed so often that it always looked as if it had just been set up. My room was nice, everything worked, no noise from other rooms, and everything in the place looks and feels brand new and impeccably clean and spotless. Good wireless internet, small but effective gym, nice indoor pool, and the off season price can't be beat.

This is a Hampton Inn but a non-typical Hampton Inn. Upscale with a big hotel flavor and located on a beautiful waterway this fine hotel has earned prestigious awards as one of the best Hampton Inn's in the U.S.. A spotless vacation retreat sporting, not only a large attractive lounge, but a spacious and pleasant outdoor deck located directly on the bay. Morning breakfast, al fresco as the fishing boats float by and the numerous flocks of waterfowl mutually enjoy the early sun is a energizing experience.

What a beautiful stay we had on Chincotegue Island at the Hampton Inn & Suites. We had a double queen corner room with balcony and waterview, the room was immaculate. I believe we had room #316, just like another tripadvisor member. The staff was very friendly and the complimentary breakfast was very good. Even the hot & humid (for October) and foggy weather could not ruin our stay. We had fun watching the ducks that sit along the small boardwalk in front of the hotel during the day and then make there over to a marshy area on the other side of the channel when it starts getting dark. There are few restaurants with in a short walk and several more with in a short drive up Maddox Blvd. I only wished we booked for a longer stay, two nights was not long enough.

This was our first (and probably our last) trip to Chincoteague Island. We arrived a a few hours early and were refused a room because, according to the check-in girl, they are not allowed to pressure the cleaning people into getting rooms ready early because it "stresses them out". So, after a two hour car ride, I was forced to freshen up in the hotel lobby restroom. The staff at this hotel need to get their GED's, and then get some lessons in basic civility.

It just got worse from there. When we finally were able to check-in, our "partial bayview room" gave us a view of the neighboring property's garage and driveway, as well as their defunct boating pier which was partially collapsed and home to dozens of dirty, loud ducks. It was absolutely foul. We had to keep the blinds drawn for the length of our stay.

The only upside was that they have a large back deck downstairs which faces the bay and is really very nice and peaceful if you can get it to yourself.

But for $200 a night, this was the biggest waste of money ever. If we ever do return to Chincoteague Island, we will not be staying here.

We (family with two children) stayed here for three nights in April 2007. While most of Chincoteague was disappointing, because of poor weather and a late start to the season, the hotel was excellent. We had a room with balcony overlooking the creek at the back, which provided some wonderful sunsets. The pool was great, as was the complimentary breakfast. Friendly staff, too. No complaints!
