Just came back from 3 nights. There wasn't anything terrible, but spending over $500 for 3 nights I expected 'above and beyond'. The room was A LITTLE oversized, not exactly what I'd call a suite, but it gave all 4 of us a place to sit and watch TV (couch, arm chair, and 2 side chairs). The views were nice, except for the duck feathers and poop and noise right off our 1st floor balcony---I'm all for wildlife, but not quite that close---sitting on the balcony was not terribly pleasant for that reason. The room was clean, but housekeeping didn't do a very good job of remaking beds after the 1st night----the sheets and mattress pad just got more and more uncomfortable, until by the 3rd night, none of us slept. It seemed that the spreads were just pulled up to make the beds look 'made', without tucking all the sheets back in smoothly again. They were quite generous with towels---we always had 6 bath towels for 4 people--very nice. Breakfast was good---same fare every morning, but a fair assortment for a continental breakfast. There was an in-room safe, but we were VERY surprised to pay a $1/day + tax charge (basically insurance) for its use----that was a new one on us. The location is convenient---several good restaurants within walking distance. Would we stay here again? We'd probably try the Hampton Inn next door, just because we find those to be more consistent, especially for the price.

Stayed here for 5 days in late July and found this to be overall a wonderful place to stay.
1) Location is right where you want it. Everything can either be walked to or driven to in 5 minutes.
2) 2 swimming pools. 1 inside and 1 outside. Pool depth is 5 feet.
3) Breakfast consist of many items both hot and cold. Wonderful for a free meal.
4) Car parking is free and plentiful.
5) Views of the bay are plentiful and beautiful.

Cons: ( This is a biggy for us).
We are a couple in our 50's and appreciate peace and quiet after a long day. The hotel does not segregate couples with young children from those of us that do not want to listen to running up and down the hallways or jumping off beds and wrestling at late night hours. The first night I called about such noise was at 2 AM and the second was at nearly 11 PM. We believe that all should have a good time but not at the expense of others.

In closing, I would have given this hotel a higher score but there must be more consideration to quiet at a respectful hour and this policy must be made clear to patrons and enforced but the hotel's upper management.

The Comfort Inn in Chincoteague was fantastic. Beach hotels are often really sandy and somewhat dirty -- but the hotel here was really, really clean. The staff was super-friendly, the continental breakfast was nice. The rooms are roomy, and is in a great location. Plus, the amenities were fantastic -- 2 pools and nice. I'll admit that it doesn't have the really fancy new furniture of a 5 star hotel, but what it lacks in ritziness, the hotel more than makes up in personality.

In another locale, we likely would have rated this hotel 'average', but on Chincoteague it easily earns an 'above average' rating. In fact, for families with small children it is likely the best lodging choice on the island.

The room was clean and comfortable, though fairly small. The staff was friendly and accomodating. The Comfort Suites has a small outdoor pool as well as an indoor pool. We used both and were especially happy to know there was an indoor recreation choice in case of rain. There is also a tiny game room.

It's more difficult to comment on breakfast. It is free and very convenient. And for anyone who eats Belgian waffles, it is probably quite enjoyable. I do not eat waffles and the remaining options were dismal. But it was free and the coffee was hot. If only they would bring in some decent fruit, it would have been just fine.

Another free item that didn't impress me were the amenities. The items themselves were just fine for this type of hotel, but gee were they stingy! Even if we hadn't been beaching and boating, my family of three could not have begun to get by on the quantity of shampoo we were alotted. I have long hair and could barely get one wash from the single tiny bottle left each day. Luckily my husband has the odd habit of filling his travel kit with tiny shampoos when he travels on business so we kept ourselves clean thanks to Marriott Co.!

Despite these tiny flaws, the stay was terrific and the hotel was just fine!

My husband and I were guests at the Comfort Suites hotel June 23-25 2006 in celebration of our 5th anniversary. Upon entering the hotel in the afternoon we immediately noticed the indoor marquee read, "Happy Anniversary Mr. & Mrs. _______". "Wow that's us!" The staff at the front desk were genuinely friendly without being overbearing.

Upon entering our room I did the clean inspection. Floors were immaculate... including corners. Champagne and chocolates awaited us. This was not requested, but a nice surpirse. Best of all the view out our 3rd floor balcony was just perfect. It included extensive wetlands, the pier with fishing boats, the duck pond, and the pool. We spent each morning eating breakfast on the balcony. Each evening we closed the day sipping wine and watching the boats return to port, and the ducklings nest in for the night. The hotel states that all rooms have a wetlands view.

The towels in the bathroom were plentiful, and of great quality. They were thick and large enough to wrap around this size 18 body. The toilet was very loud when flushed and the water pressure a little weak in the shower.

The bed was just ok. We are used to a high end mattress and we both woke up stiff in the mornings. We expected that and it did not stress us.

The furniture in the suite was clean. The love seat and couch free of stains; though not the most comfotable. But that also is to be expected.

The Continental Breakfast is served generously from 7a-11a. My husband always went down and got the food and brought it back to the room. From what I could see in walking by the dining area the food was assembled nicely and there were approximately 12 tables. The coffee was good with several types of flavored creamers available. The menu included waffles, sausage, pastries, bagels, toast, eggs, cereal and juices. Very nice and delicious.

The dining area was kept immaculate thoughout the day. Also there was always coffee, lemonade, and if you hit it just right, fresh cookies available.

There is an indoor pool and hot tub, and an outdoor pool. We only used the outdoor pool and found it to be well kept and clean. There were plenty of chaise's and two tables with umbrella's and chairs. One thing that should be added is an outdoor shower off place. Families would come to rinse off their sandy children and were disappointed in the lack of an outdoor shower.

There is a small exercise room with basic equipment, and a small business center with two computers.

One thing that stood out to us was the decor and the light in the hotel. Nearly all the artwork is original prints of Chincoteague ponies etc. There are artful realistic silk plant arrangements everywhere. And all the hallways have large windows which make it feel open, light, and airy.

The hotel is in walking distance to great shops, eateries, and the movie theater. The best ice cream on the island (The Island Creamery) is not within decent walking distance. Probably a good thing.

We had a fabulous romantic/relaxing stay. When we return we definitely stay at Comfort Suites.

We just got back from Chincoteague. I had a hard time deciding where to stay, but am glad I chose the Comfort Suites. The view from the balcony was great. We could watch boats coming in and out. We had an upgraded room which was larger and had a better view of the bay, but as far as I could tell all rooms had views of the bay. The difference was from our balcony you felt you could jump in the bay, not that you would or could. Breakfast was good with make your own waffles, sausage and egg patties. The indoor pool looked dirty to me but I was assured the water quality was checked every day. The comfort suites is on Main street so you have to take a left out of the parking lot, go a couple blocks and turn right on to Maddox blvd to get to Assateague. We rented bikes on Maddox from a bike rental place right beside Mcdonalds(don't remember the name) and rode over the bridge to Assateague. We ate at Steamers, Skippers, Bill's seafood and Marias family restaurant. They were all very good. Marias is italian, but they do serve seafood, the pizza was great. Steamers, Skippers and Bills all had great seafood. Daughter's loved the Pony Centre. Wanted to take a fishing trip out in bay, but we didn't have time. Loved Chincoteague.
