This was our third time staying at the Refuge Inn and we will be coming back in the future. The rooms are comfortable and quiet. The staff is kind and courteous and always make us feel welcome. The location to Assateague can't be beat!

Our family had a wonderful stay at the hotel. It's very close to the National Park which is very nice!! You can even rent bikes to go the Park. My kids enjoyed feeding and petting the ponies they have at the hotel. The hotel was very clean and neat. Housekeeping did a nice job keeping our room clean also. The beds are on the hard side so I was stiff in the AM but I usually encounter this problem at most hotels. I always bring my own pillow due to back and neck issues. The room also has a mini fridge which is very nice!! The front staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel offers breakfast in the morning but the options are limited and the seating is limited, it was crazy in the morning. We ended up going to McDonalds twice (which was next door) for breakfast. I would probably bring my own breakfast if I stayed here again. The hotel has a lovely pool, hot tub, and sauna area. My kids loved the pool. It was clean too. The only issue was that towels ran out quickly so you ended up using your room towels or shared them. I would probably bring our towels in the future. I would stay up on the second floor to avoid the pool noise on the first floor. The hotel was peaceful and quiet. Our family would stay here again!!

Room Tip: Second floor offers the quieter rooms since you are away from the pool area!!

We are very glad to hear that you had a wonderful stay here at the Refuge, and that you enjoyed your time on Chincoteague! I did want to let you know that we have one room with a king-size TempurPedic mattress, which you are welcome to request for future visits. Many guests with back issues enjoy that room tremendously--several have even purchased the same mattress after sleeping on it here!

As far as breakfast is concerned, we apologize for the craziness during your visit. We are very limited in our kitchen & dining facilities (and are out of room to build!) so we do the best we can with what we have. There are trays available to take food back to your room or out to the picnic tables, but McDonalds and the Chincoteague Diner across the street are both tasty and tempting! We always welcome suggestions for how to improve our offerings and would be interested in any ideas you may have-- you can send them to us at marketing@refugeinn.com

Thank you for taking the time to review our property. We hope to see you back again soon!

My husband, daughter, and I, along with my in-laws stayed at the Refuge Inn from May 15-18th. We had a very nice stay, while there was a large group of high school kids staying at the hotel, the room hotel remained mostly quiet. We stayed in room 300, one of the two suites. The room was well maintained, clean, and comfortable. The pool was heated and very clean, my three year old loved it. The grounds were nice and clean. The continental breakfast was average, but on Saturday they made Belgian waffles to order, which was really nice. The staff was very nice and helpful. They actually let us borrow an umbrella during a heavy rain storm. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, and we will definitely choose the Refuge Inn for our stay in Chincoteague in the future.

We are so glad you enjoyed your time in Chincoteague! We love the waffles too, but I think our favorite is french toast (usually served on Sunday mornings.) All of us here at the Refuge hope you'll visit again soon.

The perfect place to stay when visiting Chincoteague. Rooms are clean, comfortable and interestingly decorated. The breakfast area is well maintained and the breakfast is very tasty. The staff is friendly, polite and helpful. The addition of the Bike Rack (a bicycle rental shop next door) and the ponies in the corral add to the overall enjoyment of the stay on this lovely island.

Perfect location away from main Chincoteague village, at the entrance causeway to the Reserve and Seashore. Quiet at night (except when flotilla of kids were enjoying nearby pool). Comfortable bed, tall pines outside the sliding glass door of the attractively furnished ground floor room. Enjoy the captive ponies on property. Rent a bike at same owner's shop next door -- operated by son of owners who grew up on the property. Included breakfast is adequate with standard continental plus fresh waffle or crockpot scrambled eggs; or walk across the road to the traditional Chincoteague Diner. Most relaxing four nights I've spent in a motel for a very long time.

Glad you enjoyed your stay here at the Refuge! We apologize for the noise from the pool-- Might I suggest (for your next visit) requesting a room in the first hallway (101-120; 201-220?) It tends to be a bit quieter as it is not near the pool or hot tub. If you only need one bed, room 136 will be your best bet, as it used to be part of the owner's apartment and is consequently off to itself. Many of our customers who return year after year find their favorite room and request it again and again-- we'd love to see you come back and find your perfect home-away-from-home on Chincoteague Island . Thank you so much for the positive review!

Our room was on the second floor overlooking the pony pen. It was so much fun to watch the ponies playing. The whole place was out of the ordinary, very comfortable & friendly. Located next to the bridge to the part it was easy to walk over the bridge and enjoy the water and wildlife.

Room Tip: recommend a room looking out over the pony pen.

Comfortable, clean and friendly- run more like b&b than motel. We rented bikes and rode to beach and all over town. Sleepy, small town- more for enjoying the beach, and slowing down. Kids loved ponies on site, pool and even rocked on observatory deck (w.cutest stairs). If wasnt for spotty traffic on bay bridge, we would be back all the time.

Room Tip: 105 was next to main office across bike depot and horses
