First off let me start by saying I travel all throughout the year for work, and stay at many different hotels. Refuge Inn, hands down is the nicest all around hotel that I've/my family has every stayed at. For the price you pay, you get treated like you're staying at a hotel that cost several hundred/night. Our daughter had a wonderful time, the cleaning staff was excellent, the breakfast was amazing, and the overal customer service from all of the staff was superb! The ladies at the desk and at breakfast often played with out daughter, and that got her day started off right, and also made my wfie and myself feel more comfortable with the place. Overall experience is 100 out of 100! Tops the scale in all categories! I can't even say anything bad about our experience, all in all we will be back, and you should book you're room here as well!!!!

First of all, we are not a family that normally stays at 5-star hotels. Anything over $100 kinda hurts my feelings, to tell the truth. Our normal favorite is Hampton Inn, Wingate, Wyndham, but after seeing that we would be spending almost $300 at Hampton Inn, I decided to book a room for a quick trip enroute from NC to Lancaster, PA by way of the beach! It was a great decision. The A/C works great. The shower is perfect and the furnishings and layout of the hotel is refreshing. We love the second floor, and the pool looked great, but who needs the pool when you have the beach?! Love, love, love watching the horses from our second floor room. They are for sale, but don't think we can fit one in the car. We will be back, and hope to bring more people!

Room tip: Second floor across from the ponies is great, and if you're toward the back of the property, you might not see McDonald's.

This is the second year we've come to Chincoteague and the second time we've stayed at the Refuge Inn. If you're looking for a highly stylized, corporate hotel, this is not for you. If, however, you enjoy homey hotels with a personal touch, stay here. The rooms are tastefully decorated, clean, and quite comfortable. The staff is very friendly, and the breakfasts are tasty (only issue is a crowded breakfast room). We stay here for the location, the pony pen next door, the Bike Depot that's part of the hotel, and the overall feel of the place. I highly recommend the Refuge Inn.

Very neat place, not pretentious, clean rooms with modern air conditioning units...good swimmig pool accomodations, nice corral of young horses abuts the property...reasonably priced for the area....second time here, and will be going back again in the future

Room tip: All the areas where the rooms are look as though they are more than adequate

My wife and I stayed at the Refuge Inn in August 2013. This is an independent hotel, not part of a chain. It is well run, and while we were there it was full of families enjoying the local area. We paid a bit extra for the deluxe room, which is described on the website as "spacious," but it was actually a bit small compared to the many other places I've stayed at. The room was clean, but the carpet was a bit tired, and the furnishing were not that special. The inn is on a main street, so it wasn't as quiet as I expected from the website, but on the other hand, it is the second closest lodging to the beach at Chincoteague National Park. It's about 3 miles to the beach, so it's easy to bike or even walk to the beach. There is a small pony farm next to the property, as well as a bike rental business. The parking and internet were free.

There is a continental breakfast in the morning, which was adequate. However, the room where they serve breakfast got crowded in the morning with families. At one time, there was a line in the lobby to get food, and people were eating outside because there were no tables available.
