The ginger scones are the best scones I've ever had. This alone is worth going to have tea. Barbara is delightful and sweet, just like the meal. We started off with egg sandwiches and smoked salmon stuffed croissants. Yum! Then we had 4 different flavors of sweet scones - all delicious but the ginger scone was amazing! We ended the meal with dessert, trifle and peach stuffed pound cake. We were so stuffed we didn't eat dinner that evening. I would definitely go back here for a lovely afternoon.

After reading the great reviews about the afternoon tea we simply had to go! Barbara the owner speaks French fluently and was very happy to talk to us in “la langue de Molière”. The experience starts with a great Earl Grey tea, then smoked salmon and egg sandwiches (I love egg sandwiches but most of the times find them bland, not these ones!). Then on to the main event: The scones!! Being the modest person that she is (!), Barbara had told us that her scones were the best in the world! We have to admit they were very, very good! Served with homemade jams and whipped cream but honestly they are good on their own. We were then offered a choice of various cakes, we couldn’t resist even though we were quite full... We choose the apple cake and we’re very happy we did: It was divine.
This is so unexpected when you’re in a vacation/beach spot, it is a nice change of pace. If you want to live something special do go but beware: Have a light lunch and don’t expect to eat dinner!

My family (9 adults and 2 children; 10-year-old girls) were visiting Chincoteague and I suggested we go to afternoon tea at the Channel Bass Inn. This was my second time there for tea. Everything was delicious! Barbara and David are wonderful hosts. The sandwiches and scones were delicious. The two 10-year-old girls got all dressed up and really enjoyed their first tea. It's one of my favorite things to do while on the island.

You don't want to miss the wonderful tea served at the Channel Bass Inn during your stay in Chincoteague. It was one of the highlights of our vacation.

The tea was flavorful and served hot throughout the event. Barbara's selection of sweet and savory treats was exceptional. David warned us that we needed to come hungry and that we would go away full but that was an understatement! we had delicious sandwiches, a whole basket of scones, butterscoth pecan pie, and Barbara's world famous "stuffed monkey."

While my friend and I didn't get to share tea and life stories with other guests, we did share stories with hostess, Barbara W, which was equally enjoyable.

So don't miss this special treat when you're in Chincoteague.
