On an island famous for its salt oysters, it can be difficult to find them on the half shell for a quick snack. Enter Captain Zack's! They had them shucked and ready to go in about ten minutes. Decent price, good service, and delicious salt oysters...can't beat that. Also, beware that some restaurants serve raw oysters, but they aren't always Chincoteague salts!

The building is horrible looking, but the food is excellent and the serving is large. Carryout only although there are tables adjacent to the shop with some amusement for children.

Fried salt oysters fresh from local waters, great fish and chips, reasonably priced take out or eat at picnic tables on the side

Last year when I came to Chincoteague I had a soft shell crab sandwich at a restaurant and it wasn’t too great, so this year when visiting the island I was eager to find the perfect seafood spot and this was it.
We walked in to put in a take out order and the employees were friendly and helpful. There is a glass display showing fresh seafood for purchase. These were ranging from ‘salts’ which are oysters similar to what you find washed up on the beaches in Chincoteague, to clams and different types of local fish. We chose to get the crab salad and the soft-shell crab sandwich. Both were accompanied with hush puppies and chips. The salad was so fresh and tasty, like right out of the ocean. The soft shell crab sandwich was phenomenal- just lightly fried but very juicy when you bite into it and melt in your mouth. The sandwich was stuffed with two crabs instead of the usual one crab that other restaurants use. It was a delicious meal with good portions and I would love to go back sometime.
We were told there would be a 15 minute wait but surprisingly they called our name in just 5 minutes so the wait wasn’t long at all. There is a nice sitting area outside with some games you can play while you wait for your food. Only suggestion is I wish they sold beer too, that would be the perfect meal!

Very disappointed by captain zacks. The food was greasy and they got our order wrong. As it is take out we only discovered this on returning home. I would not recommend it.
