My sister arranged with Captain Carlton for us to have a memorial at sea for our recently deceased father. There are seven of us children and all of us traveled to Chincoteague (one from Europe and the rest from 5 other states). Because of our complicated logistics we needed as smooth a memorial as possible. Captain Carlton of Island Cruises arrived early, met us at the dock of our nearby hotel, took us to a beautiful location, was invisible to us while we said our prayers and remembrances, and took us to beautiful sites and told us about Assateague and Chincoteague. We returned on time for our dinner reservation. We were in safe and secure hands throughout. Now we have great memories that we honored our great father.

“Pure Bliss”
Reviewed September 25, 2012

I must highly recommend this experience with Captain Carlton , Sandy, and all of the great mates aboard this vessel. I grew up on Chincoteague and have long enjoyed my hometown and it's surrounding waters. Captain Carlton and his Sandbar Shuttle have added an even greater appreciation for this beautiful spot and my "Teaguer" people. Simply the most pleasant and hassel-free way to enjoy the wonder of this" little slice of Heaven ! Well worth the cost for a boat full of BLISS !

“No Better Way to Enjoy the Day”
Reviewed September 25, 2012

I grew up on Chincoteague Island, and the beach was way of life in the summer. I have been coming home for 20+ years, and last summer (2011) friends of mine introduced me to the Sandbar & Sandbar Shuttle. I can honestly say, it is a slice of heaven on earth. This summer I went nearly everyday for a week, and didn't even think about going to the "big beach" (Assateague Island, a National Wildlife Refuge).

Captain Carlton and First Mate Rubin are AWESOME. Safety of the passengers is a must, and courtesy to help you with your beach "gear" is a standard.

If you visit Chincoteague Island, make sure you take at leasat one shuttle boat ride out to the Sandbar...you won't regret or forget it!

“Excellent Cruise!”

Took a tour on island Cruiser with Captain Leonard! It was a blast. He was very interesting and extremely accommodating! He took his time making sure that we saw everything. Being a native from this area, he was able to answer all of our questions and give us a lot of information! This was definitely the highlight of our trip! I highly recommend this tour with Captain Leonard!

“Wonderful Cruise!!!”
Reviewed September 17, 2012

We also got lucky! Called Capt. Carlton Leonard of Island Cruises the last morning we were in Chincoteague, having no idea our party of only 4 people would be able to go out that afternoon. He was most accommodating and helpful. Told us to meet him at the docks at 1:00. He was very friendly and informative. Capt Leonard is a Chincoteague native which made it all the more interesting. Lots of knowledge of the islands history. Saw dolphins swimming all around our boat right away! Bald eagles, clam and oyster beds, island birds of all kinds, the Assateague Lighthouse, and the wild horses, roaming freely on the island marshes. His goal was to make sure our tour was successful. Couldn't have been any better!!! Plan to try to do it again!! He also was busy transporting a group to a sandbar in the area so they go clamming and swimming where there were very few other people.
