Owner description: We specialize in the wild ponies! Ask about our Afternoon Pony Tour, available daily. Family friendly nature tours of Chincoteague and Assateague Islands. Our trip combines sight-seeing and a guided tour together. We search for wild ponies, dolphin, bald eagles, sea turtles, sting rays, all manner of wild fowl, and local creatures. We talk about local history, culture, seafood industry, economy, and modern day life. Our signature “Around the Island Tour” covers over 25 miles of coastline, in 2-2.5 hours, never passing the same spot twice. We specialize in taking small groups, on extended trips, into isolated areas. Most trips take 6 guests max, but we’ve added a 33’, 14 passenger boat to our fleet. We run our 33' boat on our afternoon pony tour, and by request for larger groups. Local family owned and operated business by Capt. Dan, his wife Miss Abby, and his father Capt. Ray.

Cruising around on a pontoon looking for wild ponies is such a unique experience and Dan is a wealth of knowledge about the ponies and the history of the islands. The scenery is breath-taking and he's a great storyteller. The two hours flew by and has been the highlight of my summer.

Third time to the island and finally took a boat tour. Let me tell you, it was fantastic! Captain Dan put's on one hell of show and the commentary was top notch. We were able to see plenty of horses and a bald eagle. Amazing! is all I can say. My two kids got a huge chuckle out of using the pop-up head and just to prove it was legit, Capt. Dan used it himself. Where can you find dedication like that. The night was beautiful with a slight breeze and low humidity. We really enjoyed the small number of people aboard which made the cruise more personable. If you're ever on the island and want a great scenic tour with a knowledgeable Captain, look up Captain Dan's tour. I will guarantee that you will thoroughly enjoy yourselves.

My wife and I went not on the Around the Island Tour, but the Money Back Guaranteed Pony Tour. We went Sunday morning before the pony swim/auction week, just as the ponies were being rounded up, so it may have been more of a challenge to see ponies and it was a little rainy as we started. Captain Dan told us we were likely to get wet and maybe very wet, but there didn't appear to be any thunderstorms threatening and it turned out it wasn't that wet, though a little cool at the start. Indeed, we were offered the opportunity to opt out without penalty given the rainy conditions at the start. We had already seen a couple of the famous Assateague pony herds in our drives and walks around the island so it was not a do or die situation for us. We did get to see ponies. We saw one small herd in two visits to the spot they were at, as well as two different solo stallions (one's who didn't have a cadre of mares) as well as a distant view of another herd. This pony tour focuses solely on the ponies, though Captain Dan did point out and identify birds that we saw in passing. There was another couple with their child on the boat and the max on one of these tours is six people. Captain Dan did a great job answering questions and explaining about Assateague and Chincoteague, very knowledgeable. Would do it again with our grandsons without a moments hesitation given the chance.

We have been to Chincoteague many times but had never taken a boat tour until today. What a wonderful time we had! We rode with Captain Ray and learned all kinds of information regarding wildlife and the islands. We saw ponies in two different areas and we saw an eagle. We plan on taking this tour on future trips to Chincoteague. This was my favorite activity of our whole vacation. Thank you!

Captain Dan & his father Ray run the best boat tour available in Chincoteague. We tried the rest... but since finding Dan book him every time we're in town. Drives his boat within feet of wildlife to heighten the customer's experience. Last year we watched the birth of a Chincoteague pony, Dan parked the boat and we sat w/in 50' of it while it took it's first steps.. doesn't get better than this. Bald eagles, ponies, dolphins... whatever your pleasure, Dan & Ray will find them!
