Because Assateague Island was closed due to the Government shut-down we went looking for alternative activities. We are so glad we found Daisey’s Dockside Nature Cruises. Our Captain, Carlton, asked us all what kinds of creatures we were interested in and we said Birds; another group we were travelling with wanted to see Dolphins and ponies. He made sure we saw plenty of all three. He even recognized the fin of one of the Dolphins and had a name for it. He spotted much wildlife that we would have missed if we have been cruising on our own, and knew the names and habits of all the birds. He pointed out Eagle who was posed on a pylon as if he were just waiting for his picture to be taken. We would definitely do this again.

We set out with Capt. Bill for a very pleasant 2 hour cruise. Our boat was a pontoon boat which provided a smooth ride allowing us to get close to dolphins, wild ponies and a variety of birds including a bald eagle. The chairs on the boat were very comfortable and Capt. Bill is very knowledgable about the history of the region, animal facts and entertained us with many stories about the area. We would definitely recommend this cruise to anyone and will go again next time we are in the area. Also, don't schedule something right after your cruise. We found his discussion of floating houses and clam farming so interesting that we asked so many questions and he graciously answered them extending our tour by 40 minutes.

I took my two grandchildren on a sunset cruise on Friday, September 13. We saw dolphins, which I could not get a picture of, but my 8 year old grandson did! A young eagle in the trees, a Osprey, and of course the ponies. Our Captains Nate and Fred were full of information and great fun for the kids. I would recommend Daiseys/Island Cruises for an enjoyable cruise.

Good fun! What a great morning with Capt. Carleton!! 7 a.m. seemed a tad early and it ended up worth every moment. Do this tour early in your stay at Chincoteague and you will enjoy each subsequent day more. Based on our captain's recommendations we had some great hikes in the nature preserve and down the beach in the following days, saw more horses, dolphins and eagles and saw a myriad of seabirds. The osprey and kingfisher we saw on our tour remained the only ones we saw all week!

From a seasoned ex salt water cowboy captain, we learned much about the island ponies, and some fun things going on and around Wallops Island. We will be coming back and calling captain Carlton for oyster fest Columbus Day wknd. The 2 hr cruise was perfectly relaxing, captain Carleton tailored the waves to the group, and we were whisked away on a wonderful boat ride to see wild ponies and dolphins! We called on a Sunday and were able to go then when other cruises couldn't tell us if they would be available. We also found out his boat is a good place to watch rocket launches from Wallops Flight Facility.
