“Surprise...quiet and very clean”
Reviewed February 28, 2006

At first, I was a bit apprehensive, the price made me think twice. It was very cheap over the internet. Past review helps me for taking my decision.

This hotel was a nice surprise. A Friday night room for less than 60$, AAA rate, for the President Day weekend, was very affordable. The Hampton inn Chester is a bit hard to find, but a very good value. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. Complimentary expanded hot deluxe breakfast bar included.

Not a fancy hotel, but a great place to stay and rest for a night when you travel on the Interstate 95.

Stayed here for a 3 day business trip. As other reviewers stated, it is a little bit difficult to find, as it is set back from the road. There are many hotels on this strip of road. There are plenty of stores and restaurants nearby, though none within walking distance.
Every morning, there were 2 options for breakfast - cereal, bagels, and a few hot options (egg patties, french toast sticks), or "on the go" bags, which had an apple, muffin & bottle of water. Both options were very convenient. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate were available in the lobby 24 hours.
Fitness room is small - 1 elliptical, 2 treadmills, but it served its purpose. I didn't use the pool, so I can't comment on that. Note: Cracker Barrel is very closeby, but not within walking distance. You actually have to stay at the Fairfield Inn to be able to walk there.
Wireless internet access was spotty at best. I plugged into their high-speed line, and that worked much better.

Well, it is a little hard to find according to the last reviewer, but so worth it. Staff were lovely, the room was fine, breakfast good with a couple of delicious hot entrees and a manager's reception on the night I stayed over. If you book into Room 214 or around there a room or two either way you may see some unexpected wildlife just after daybreak. I did. I did some research on return and am certain it is a cougar. No pussy cat that. It was not a deer either. It was about two feet tall at the withers and four feet long (excluding the tail, a long tail). It loped through a clearing up the hill. I spoke with the desk lady and she didn't know of a zoo in the neighborhood so, after returning home I called the manager, Mr. Fox, who said that other sightings had been made by guests, but none by a staff member, and they think it may live on a neighboring golf course. Cougars are increasingly seen in the eastern US according to findings on a Google search. They eat white-tailed deer for a living. Not good to approach a cougar, probably. Take a camera. Use the camera from the room. Binoculars are not necessary as it loped around only about 30 feet from the hotel. If you don't see the cougar, you'll still have a good night's stay. Ann Roe-Rever

Stayed for a week while on business. Hotel is hidden behind the Comfort Inn, so it is not easy to find. There was no elevator during my stay, but one is being installed by mid-2004.

Room was well appointed and clean, but small. Bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was adequate. There is complimentary high-speed Internet in the rooms, which is a huge bonus for business travelers who check email. Breakfast was pretty good, including homemade biscuits & gravy, muffins, rolls, cereal, fruit, etc.

Overall, would probably stay there again, although there are numerous other options within walking distance of the Hampton (Comfort Inn, Mariott Courtyard, Holiday Inn Express). Traffic on 10 going past these hotels is awful at rush hour. Restaurants abound on the other side of I-95 in Chester. Check out O'Charleys
