Having taken this week off back in Dec,my hubby and I sought for a fun trip that wouldn't take all our savings to go on. Found Inn at Monticello at the last minute. Great room rates with great reviews and only 2 hours away. Arrived just after 4 to meet our innkeeper Bob working to take care of our room. He cordially greeted us and asked about our plans for dinner. He quickly made a recommendation and then offered to make a reservation for us. Later we met our fellow travelers over the afternoon reception. Enjoyed a great nights sleep both of our nights and very much enjoyed the great breakfasts. Didn't need to eat again til late in the afternoon early evening. Landscape around the inn is beautiful and must be even better in the spring. Charlottesville will be on our short trip list. Thanks Bob and Carolyn for a great place.

Pay no attention to the few cranky reviews this B & B has received; only "impossible to please" folks could have written those. The hospitality here is first rate, from the graciously appointed rooms to the crackling fireplace in the common room to the splendid gourmet breakfast, this is top notch. We especially enjoyed the afternoon wine and snacks and the late night cookies (I will forever crave the walnut shortbread). The host and hostess could not have been more welcoming or helpful. In addition, it is very close to Thomas Jefferson's home and a short jaunt into Charlottesville. Extra touches included fresh flowers all about, making up for the mid winter gloom. We would love to return in the spring to enjoy the gardens.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Jefferson room which is just off the common room. It has its own private patio.

Inn and Monticello is located just a short distance from I-64 and Jefferson's Monticello. We had a very quiet night there and a delightful breakfast the next morning. Innkeepers Bob and Carolyn were very friendly and helpful, directing us to a restaurant for dinner and chatting with us over a glass of wine by the fireplace in the parlor in the evening. The inn is very handsome and nicely decorated. The room was spacious and the bathroom was modern, if a bit small. We enjoyed our stay and could recommend it without reservation.

We stayed here to greet the 2013 new year in style. Bob and Caroline are very knowledgable about the area, Monticello, the history and antique furniture of the Inn they own and great at making us feel at home. We had fun discussions about all of the above and books, of which they have many available to read. In the late afternoon we enjoyed complimentary local wine and snacks in front of the fireplace which enhanced our chatting with our hosts. We stayed in the Jefferson Room just behind the fireplace. The Jefferson Room is a newer addition but is finished to look as great as the rest of the Inn. It also has a private deck with comfy chairs - we had coffee out there at 7:30AM before breakfast. Our room had separate electric heat but we never had to turn it on because we were warmed by the fireplace which has a common wall with our room. We had no room key, but none was needed because we felt comfortable as if we were relaxing at home. This Inn is smaller than some B&Bs but that is part of it's charm that makes it feel so cozy. There is ample acreage around the Inn with gardens and trees that invokes a morning stroll before or after breakfast as well. The coffee is good but others stated that it had a "lemon" taste...hmm. The breakfast was delicious and filling. We kidded Bob that he looked much like a well known actor, if you stay here you can decide for yourself. This was a wonderful way to ring in the new year. I highly recommend staying here if you are planning a visit to Monticello which is only a 5 minute drive away. It's a top quality B&B.

Room Tip: The Jefferson and Lilac Rooms are good choices because they are on the main floor and have private...

It was a pleasure to stay in this gem. I stayed in the Green Room and great enjoyed the fantastic fireplace in the evenings. The breakfasts, snacks, and wine were all delicious. Bob and Carolyn were extremely friendly and helpful. They also pointed me in the direction of some great local restaurants, running trails across the road that overlook Monticello, and other locations. The location is great for visiting Monticello and anything else within Charlottesville. It was a great stay and I highly recommend it. I hope to stay there again.

The Inn at Monticello was a terrific place to stay. It was beautiful, quiet, elegant & wonderfully warm & inviting. We stayed in the Yellow Room which had a comfortable king size bed that accomodated a restless sleeper without disturbing a peaceful sleeper. The wine & snacks in the afternoon were just right. The breakfasts were hot & very yummy. The location was extremely convenient to everything we wanted to see & do. The recommended dinner restaurant was excellent & close by. Carolyn's warm chocolate mini cupcakes were divine & just right after a delicious meal. The recommended wineries were also excellent & we did our best to help the countries ailing economy! Bob & Carolyn are extremely gracious & knowledgeable innkeepers! Highly recommended & we certainly hope to return in the future.

Room Tip: We peeked into one of the empty rooms & it was just as lovely as our own.

We had a wonderful 2 night stay in the Jefferson Room. Everything was great and we wouldn't have changed anything. We thoroughly enjoyed having wine and snacks in the late afternoon. After eating dinner out, we were welcomed home with dessert and tea. Breakfast both mornings was incredible. We can't wait to come back!
